Mary Homuth Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Theresa (Trena) Homuth. Trena passed away in her home in Victoria, BC, on April 2nd, 2024, after a long struggle with diabetes.

Born to parents Mary & Tom Homuth in Kingston, Ontario on December 25th, 1973, Trena was the youngest of three siblings and the only daughter. Born into a military family, Trena moved to Germany at the age of 5 and back to Canada (Red Deer, AB) at the age of 10. She attended Lambrick Park High School in Victoria BC, where the family finally planted roots and she became involved in gymnastics.

Throughout her life Trena overcame many deep, personal struggles; her resilience was a force to be reckoned with and whatever the scenario she never failed to maintain her humor and enrich the lives of those around her. She was supportive and loving to those who knew her well, honest, and direct to a fault, and deeply protective.

She is survived by her loving father Tom Homuth and two older brothers Chris Homuth (Carol), Brian Homuth (Carrie) and her nephew, three nieces and great nephew. She also leaves behind her two cats (Daze and Jax) and a full community of people whose lives she touched. She dies with 12 years of continuous sobriety at a very young 50. It was important to her to raise awareness about mental health and to give back to her community through acts of service.
Funny, beautiful, and honest, she is and will continue to be missed. Trena now finds solace in the loving embrace of her mother, Mary Jean Homuth as she journeys onward. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her as she inspired others with her courage and perseverance in the face of adversity. Unexpected is this loss. Thy Will Not Mine Be Done. May she rest in God's loving embrace.

Although it's been 30 years since last we spoke, Trena's humour, kindness and spark always made her stand out as one of the best of us. The world seems a little greyer on learning of her passing.

My deepest condolences to the Homult family on Trena's passing. Our small group that went from grade 8 to 12 at Lambrick was close. From summer trips to the Sooke Potholes to hanging out at the Shelbourne McDonald's, I have many fond memories of Trena.

Trena you were such a good friend for many years. Your wicked sense of humour, that twinkle in your eye and all of those hilarious and sometimes inappropriate jokes will live on forever. Your presence in the rooms of recovery and the wisdom you shared will never ever be forgotten. You've got your wings now and I know your mom was waiting to greet you. Love Sue Simard

Tom, Chris, Brian and Families,

I was very sad to hear of Trena´s passing. We were friends on Facebook and it was always nice talking with her about her Mom and grandmother when they lived in Fredericton, NB. My parents, Tom and Dorella Daley, loved visiting the Breau´s. Trena was a beautiful young woman taken too soon. May she rest in peace with her beautiful Mother, Mary and her grandmother.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I met Trena in grade 8 and we continued to be friends throughout high school and We worked together at Mc Donald´s. We lost touch after lambrick but I´ve thought of her over the years. She was a good friend and she cared about her friends, and deeply loved her family. She will be missed.
