Mary SPENCER Obituary
On Thursday, November 27th, Mary (Mairi) Spencer (nee Turner) passed away peacefully in the loving company of her daughter and eldest son.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Mary and her second husband, Milton Trickey, moved to Victoria in the early 1990s where they enjoyed the mild winters and beautiful surroundings.
After Milton's passing in 2012 following a long illness, Mary began a new and unexpected chapter of her life when a late-in-life love story blossomed. Mary and Seth (Spencer) found joy and companionship together and were married in 2014. They celebrated eight wonderful years together until Seth's passing in 2022.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her first husband Ron Harris and their five children, Glenn, Kerri, Gregg, Brett, and Erik and their spouses, Mary and Ron's grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Ron's brothers. Mary was sadly predeceased in 2009 by her first-born grandson Jonathan.
Mary is fondly remembered by Seth's son Jeff and his wife and children, the many extended Spencer and Harris family members, and the wonderful community at the Victorian at McKenzie Retirement Residence.
Family and friends will miss Mary's calm and gentle nature and her endlessly inquisitive mind, always seeking to learn as evidenced by her extensive library. In addition to being a gifted craftsperson with many appreciative recipients of her beautiful knitting and crocheting, Mary had also been a remarkably generous and prolific blood donor having given blood 365 times through the Canadian Red Cross.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, there will be no services. Mary has donated her body to medical science through the UBC Body Donation Program, as did Seth and prior family members. Eventually, Mary's and Seth's ashes will be together at Hatley Memorial Gardens outside Victoria.
