Mary Taylor Obituary

On Saturday January 28th, 2023, Mary Taylor, loving mother, passed away at the age of 90. Mary was born April 21, 1932, in Cambridge, England, to Tom Herbert Taylor, and Christophina Myrtle Blanche Taylor. Mary joined the Women's Royal Air Force and was posted to Egypt where the family believes she met Richard Hoffmann, whom she married in 1956 - probably in Milwaukee Wisconsin where their children David, Anne, Paul and Cindy were born. After many moves, they finally settled in Prince George, BC. Later, Mary moved to Victoria, BC where she continued working as a bookkeeper and volunteering for hospice. She always kept busy as she loved to knit, read, and take long walks, often walking to and from her job at the Royal Yacht Club in Victoria. Mary loved to travel and would often take two to three trips a year, always on an adventure, including several trips to her home and family in England. Mary had a kind, quiet spirit, and loved spending alternate years with her sons and their families for Christmas. Mary was preceded in death by her father, her mother, her daughter Anne, her brother Peter, and her sister Vivienne. She is survived by her children, David (Shelley), Paul (Donna), Cindy, her brother John (Gillian), her grandchildren Jennifer (Korbin), Taylor (Erin), Erin (Frank), Christian Krissi, and Emily. Also, several great-grandchildren, Kaedin, Kyler, Ryden, Lexi, Trapper, Betty Lou, Kyler, Harleigh, & Kane. Mary wanted her ashes scattered in the ocean, so she could continue her travels on the tides and currents. It seems appropriate for such an adventurous and well-travelled lady! There will be no service for Mary, as per her wishes.

Cindy, I am so sorry you have lost your Mom.. I miss her and especially our "fishy friday" dinners. I got to look forward to our routine of checking in and making sure every thing was functioning and we would have a laugh at her expense with her pain always surfacing, but we enjoyed each other and she was special... I do miss her.... Take care and know I cared.
