Mike, so many fond memories of such a sweet guy. You added a little sunshine to so many people's lives. The light that burns brightly often burns out too soon. We shall miss you.

I'm a better person for knowing Mike. Such a warm, giving, self-less person. His laugh echoes in my mind. He found humour in almost everything. God Bless those he left behind. He took a bit of my heart with him. Thinking of you Lindsay. xoxox

I'd like to offer my condolences to Mike's family. Unfortunately I didn't even know Mike's name. I live in the same building that Mike did and we shared many discussions over the years while walking through the parking garage or riding the elevator together. I always looked forward to running into Mike as his demeanor was always uplifting, he was always happy and ready to share a discussion about the day's events. I always thought he was a good guy but from reading about Mike it's obvious that he was a great guy. I returned from a trip last week and saw Mike's picture and a notice of his memorial service in the elevator and I was absolutely stunned. I'll miss not running into Mike. I'm not sure how I ever managed not to catch Mike's name over the years but now I'll never forget it.

So sad to hear this tragic news.
I grew up with Mike in the old hood with the boys of Garnet road.
The good old days playing "road hockey" yelling "CAR" every few minutes...brings back many memories. I always enjoyed his company, his sense of humor...I always made him laugh...as we together made fun of some of the boys like "tigger" and "Billy Blastoff"...those were the days...he was such a nice person and always friendly to me...
Gone too soon...My thoughts are with his family and friends.
RIP Mike!!
My sincere condolences and warmest regards.

Sincere and deep condolences to the Card family upon hearing of Mike's passing- the consistency with which words like "kind", "smiling" and "friendly" are used throughout all these entries is not only true of how I remember Mike, but also a wonderful legacy of remembrance. Mike's 'head-tilted-back' laugh and kindness to a kid a few years younger than himself, makes for great boyhood hockey memories.

Mike
You were a great friend and co worker at Can Par. I have 15 years of memories working with you and 30 years of knowing you. I have many fond memories being your friend. You were there for me when I was down and you could always find a way to make things better. You will be greatly missed. I look forward to seeing you again someday in Heaven.

Dear Pat and family,
Mike was always making everyone laugh at Cedar Hill and Mt. Doug. When he worked for CanPar our paths crossed almost daily when he delivered to the schools in th Sooke Dist. where I worked. Mike always went out of his way to say "Hi", give me a wave or tell a story or joke. I looked forward to seeing his smiling face. He knew the names of all the administrators and secretaries. If the school staff heard laughter coming from the office we knew that Mike was in close proximity. He will be missed by many customers in Sooke and the Westshore. Mike was a proud father of Lindsay.

I live in the building that Mike called home. We park right by each other, so over the years we got to know one another. He always had a story or a joke ready for me when our paths crossed, spoke sooo highly and proudly of his daughter, and was always making sure I was doing well.
I am so sad to hear about Mikes passing, his smile and contagious laughter will be truly missed.
My deepest condolences.

Mike - You were my second Brother and I'm glad I was able to let you know and saw the smile on your face when you heard me tell you.
You were a joy in our house for many, many years. I'll never forget all the great times you shared in our family. Crazy hockey games in the driveway and all the laughter and screams that came with it and always blaming that someone was cheating haha. One of the best recent memories I have was a few years back during the McAuley Annual Golf Tourney when you shot a hole in one and you were jumping for joy and beside yourself. It was great having you and Dad on my team, altho I believe we did lose that day - Ha!
Your gentle spirit and laugh not to mention all the nicknames and trying to figure out who was who with stories always made my day.
Rest in peace and enjoy your new place up above watching and caring for all of us my sweet second brother. Don't forget to give Dad a hug for me. xxoo

Mike's greatest joy in life was making other people happy. If only everyone was like this, what a truly great world this would be. I remember him when he first moved across the street from us as an eight year old - happy, friendly, warm, kind and thoughtful. Some 30 years later we met up again at a function at Alex's and he was the same. He left an everlasting positive impression on so many. May Mike be granted eternal peace and happiness.

Dear Card Family
Our sincerest condolences. I had the great privilege of knowing Mike when I worked at Ruth King Elementay and he would make deliveries via Canpar. Mike always had a warm and infectious smile and a good joke to share. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. I told him one day that I admired his work shirt and lo and behold the next visit to the school he brought me a shirt. A wonderful gentleman he was whom I have great respect and admiration.

Mike, you were the bright light of our whole school's day when I was principal at Glenlake every time you brought us your parcels, inevitably accompanied by your energetic, buoyant smile and an obvious happiness at bringing us a 'gift'. Unbeknownst to you, there were a number of days when you showed up at particularly difficult times and usually turned the mood around from negative to positive just because of your attitude and presence.
Later, when my wife and I retired and moved to the Inner Harbour at Royal Quays, I ran into you again at the CanPar depot and looked forward to our fairly regular conversations when our paths crossed until we moved from there six years ago. One of my fondest memories is of the day you had your daughter with you in the truck and you introduced me to her with such love and pride. She was a delightful little girl who can only have matured since then into a fine adult, I'm sure. You were a special person, Mike, and the world has been deprived of your unique presence far too soon. My heart goes out to your daughter and to all of those many people who loved you. You will not be forgotten.

Mike was my baseball coach at Carnarvon Park. I am saddened by his passing and will always remember his gentle manner and welcoming smile. He had a way to see the humor in any situation. He truly cared about the people he knew. The world is a darker place without Mike in it.

Mike buddy your the type of friend everybody needs. We met a Gray beverage and we shared so many friends from different ilks. So much fun was had with you and your toyota 4x4. My nickname mike gave me ( arty or webber). Mike and his nicknames made a ever lasting impression on me I named one of the guitars I hand built (arty), the one I am building now will be known simply as Mikey. When I left victoria to chase my carreer path you helped me move the same day I had a service for my dad when we spread my dads ashes at clover point we went off to kamloops and had a great evening having fun and more fun right Rich. After a couple of years I was further away and not financially there and he asked me if I was coming home for christmas but I could not afford it Mike sent me up a plane ticket, thats what type of friend Mike was to me and everyone else.so many more stories if ever I had the time Id like to share them with all of you but that would be a very large book. Miss you Mike.

Mike took me fishing off the breakwater when we were 17, showed me how to gut a fish. I still have the cutting board he gave me for my birthday. He seemed happiest when he was surrounded by people, was one of those guys who seemed to know someone everywhere he went. Will remember him for how he laughed at his own jokes, tease you with nicknames, and was always interested in hearing how you were doing. He obviously loved his friends and family so much. Rest peacefully Mike
