Michael Dyer Obituary
Michael Edward Swinnerton Dyer passed away July 8 2025 at Saanich Peninsula Hospital after battling cancer. Mike was born January 16 1948 in Victoria BC, raised by Lillian and Ben Dyer. Mike lived out his life on Vancouver Island. He grew up in Duncan, eventually settling in Sidney. Mike worked as a Machinist, initially at Butler Brothers, and then for the Department of National Defence at CFB Dockyard.
Mike was beloved by many and will be sorely missed. He was a kind and cheerful soul, and drew people to him. He had a sense of humour with a penchant for puns.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Roberta (Josephine) Dyer, his sons Theodore (Ted) Dyer, Mark Dyer, Steve Cunningham (his son at Heart) and his grandson Timothy (Luna) Dyer.
Mike had a love for the church of St. Stephens, which he considered his spiritual home, and where he was a Lay Reader for over 40 years. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Stephens church on September 6.
