Michael Pomeroy Obituary

POMEROY, Michael Ryan December 16, 1980 August 21, 2008 Sadly and tragically our beloved son Michael Ryan died in the early hours of Thursday morning, when the finite, earthly love of his family and friends could no longer sustain him his heavenly father welcomed him home with outstretched arms. Even as our hearts are breaking we do not ask why, instead we are grateful to have been blessed with such a wonderful son. We honour and celebrate his honesty, humour and goodness. Mike was athletic and enjoyed all sports including golf and fishing. He was active in his community and was involved in fundraising for the less fortunate. A highlight in Mike's life was going to Mexico with a Youth Group to build homes for the poor. Mike was passionate about woodworking and wanted to pursue a career as a carpenter. Mike loved children and they where drawn to him also. He spent countless hours playing with his nieces and referred to them as pure joy, always reminding him of staying in the moment. Those of us left to mourn are many, parents Wendy Madsen, Norman Pomeroy (Janet), brother Shawn, sister Shannon (Mitch), stepsister Erin and Amber, nieces Aleah, Makayla and Jada, grandmother Betty Gurney, Uncle Kevin, aunts Donna and Stephanie, and cousins Vincent and Angel. Mike leaves behind his girlfriend Melanie and good friends Hannah, Charlotte, Amy and Jeff, as well as countless friends of Bill W. Mike was predeceased by Anders Madsen and son Jens and Pappa Gurney and Granny Pomeroy. A memorial service will be held on September 5, at 1 pm at Lambrick Park Church, 1780 Feltham Rd., Victoria, all are welcome, refreshments and fellowship to follow. My son, I will miss the brilliance of your mischeivious little boy smile, you are my shining star and you will live on in my heart for all eternity. Love you, Mom. 495675

Our children will always be the lights of our lives. Michael's soul and his love will forever light the way for those who he loved.
Keep walking toward the light for we shall all be reunited with our loved ones when we too are called home.

I was impressed by the speach Michael gave at his grandfathers memorial service and after shaking hands and telling him so I think I will miss most - his radiant smile that he showed me that day.

so sorry to hear about Mike. may God be there to comfort you all at this time. We were fortunate to have met Mike at Lambrick and worked with him doing some fundraising for the Mission:Mexico trip 2 summers ago which my daughter, Brittany, went on as well.
I just saw Mike about a month ago at The Place and he was so interested in the trip we were doing to Ecuador this summer with the youth. Rest in peace Mike.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, ""I welcome you.""

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......""My day was not in vain.""
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Wendy, Shannon, and Shawn, as well as the rest of Mikes family and friends. My heart goes out to you all right now. Mike was a pretty amazing kid when i met him about 15 years ago, and from what I heard he grew into a pretty amazing man, it is sad that his life had to be cut so short. He will never be forgotten, and will always be loved and remembered.

Wendy, Shannon and Shawn, May you have the strength to bear your loss. My love and prayers are with you through this devastation and forever. I'll never let myself forget his Laugh, his Light, or his Love, all three of which were wonderful and abundant. I will be eternally grateful for every moment spent with Mike. He was so generous with his knowledge and time, Mike made sure countless people knew they deserved a better life, and saw to it that they got one. Thank you Mike, May You Be in Peace, With Love Forever...Rachael Young

Hey Mike, I never thought I'd be doing this for you. The last time I saw you, I was a target of your sense of humor and I really laughed. I'll miss the way you would bring humor to a lot of hurting people in the rooms. I know you're in a better place Mike, but the rooms of Bill W will seem emptier without you and sadly, we'll miss you.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, loved ones and host of friends at this sad time...don
