Michael SPROULE Obituary

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing, on the eve of May 12, 2022 at Victoria Hospice surrounded by family, of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Michael Pearce Sproule.
Survived by his wife Kathy of 33 years, daughter Mariah (Brandon), granddaughter Avayah, and son Michael Jr., his four older brothers: Dale, Dennis (Joan), Brian (Mary), Allan (Cynthia), many nieces and nephews and their children. Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Mike was the youngest of five boys. He came from a sports-minded family. An avid sports enthusiast, he played hockey and baseball into his adulthood; but his greatest passion was watching his children participate and excel in their chosen sports.
Predeceased by his loving parents, Robert and Eleanor Sproule, his final resting place will be alongside them at Royal Oak Cemetery.
Mike worked for the City of Victoria for more than 30 years in the Underground Department where he established friendships that endured through the years. A devout family man, family and friends were the most important thing to him, - then his Canucks. He will be remembered and dearly missed for his gentle, kindhearted soul and lighthearted sense of humour.
Kathy and children wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many involved in his care; in particular, Doctors Mark Thiessen, Adrian Yee, Kewan Aboulhosn, Ciara Freeman, Judith Jones, the Saanich Community Palliative Care nurses Lance and Allison, and the Royal Jubilee Hospice staff for their passionate care. Special thank you to Mike's brothers and their families who rallied together to support Mike and all his needs, as he fought to the end to stay here with us. He felt your love and it was greatly appreciated. Thank you to Aunt Bernice and Uncle Marcel for their constant kindness and unwavering support. Thank you to the Stead family for the many delicious dishes left at the door.Thank you to the many friends who passed by to check in.
Gone too soon, his passing leaves a deep hole in our hearts, but we are thankful for what time we had together. May he rest in peace.
The family invites you to join us in Mike's Celebration of Life, July 23 from 2:00-5:30 pm at the Centennial Park Fieldhouse, 1809 Hovey Road (https://www.centralsaanich.ca/sites/default/files/images/our-community/Parks/centennial_park_map_2022_0.pdf).
Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to Cancer Research in Mike's name.

So sad to hear this news, Mike was such a great guy with a great family. Known the Sproule clan for more than 50 years and am very fond of all them. Mike loved all those that were close to him and you could always feel his warmth. RIP Mike, see you on the other side.
