Michael Wedekind Obituary

WEDEKIND, Michael
Michael sadly passed away at home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a valiant struggle with myelofibrosis. He leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Gail and his children, Diana (Tony), Peter (Joanne), Scott (Alison) and Jane. Mike also leaves nine grand-children and five great-grandchildren. Also, he has step-children, Curtis (Leanne) and Carmen plus four step-grandchildren. He is also survived by Valerie, the mother of his children. He was predeceased by his parents Claude and Marion Wedekind and his brother Andrew.
Michael was born in Osterly, England and immigrated to Canada in 1957 eventually settling in Calgary, Alberta. His proudest accomplishments in his life besides his children and grandchildren was being an officer in the British Royal Horse Artillery and obtaining his law degree from Manchester in 1974. He practiced law in Calgary for over 20 years. He and Gail enjoyed many winters at their home in Palm Springs. They retired to Victoria in 2006.
Michael served his community through his participation in Rotary. He belonged to Royal Colwood Golf Course, Gyro, Union Club and several meetup groups. Donations in his memory can be made to the charity of your choice.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at Uplands Golf course on Saturday, October 14th, 2PM - 4PM.

I think of Mike every meetup. They are not the same without his sharing opinions, beliefs, and ideas.... (sometimes old fashioned), making it all the more fun, interesting and challenging.
May fond memories bring you comfort.
