MICHEL Nazir MURR

1938 - 2024

Born in Rayaq, Lebanon to Nazir and Dalila Murr, Michel was the second of nine children. He was the first in his family to immigrate to Canada (Victoria) in 1966, after hairdressing training in Germany and Switzerland. In 1968 he opened Gemi Hair (formerly Coffuire Gemi with his brother Georges) and spent his career working in the little salon at the corner of Cook/ Johnson. That was also the year he went home and married his beautiful wife, Yvette, with whom he shared three loving children; Allan (LeaAnn), Paula (Karl) and Fadi (Karla). Parkinson's challenged his life in the last few years but because of his family, he was able to be cared for at home until the last few months. Leaving behind to miss him are his wife of 55 years, his children and his four grandchildren: Lauren, Alana, Maxim and Michaela.
Predeceased by his sister Claire and brother Georges, he also leaves behind to mourn his siblings; Salwa,Georgette, Siham, Rose, Murr, and Josephine...their spouses, children and all his friends. We give thanks to the staff of Oakwood Manor where Michel was taken care of 'til his last breath. Funeral to be held Tuesday, November 12 @ 10 am at St. Joseph's Parish (Burnside Rd W) followed by an internment at Royal Oak Burial and reception.
