Passed away in West Coast General Hospital on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the age of 73.
Predeceased by an infant brother Ernie, father Dave and brother Nick.
Mike is survived by loving wife Jackie; children Barb (Lyle), Mike and Dave (Rhonda); grandchildren, Brianna, Keisha, and Sarah; mother, Mary Dack; brothers, John, Victor (Joy) and Ed (Bridgette); as well as nieces and nephew.
Born in Thorhild, Alberta, Mike came to Port Alberni in 1958 looking for work on the pipeline at Great Central Lake. From there he went to work for Franklin, before moving on to Sproat Lake working for over 30 years as an excavator operator, until his retirement. When not working, Mike stayed active playing with his metal detector, wood working, fishing, camping and floor curling as well as walking and hiking. Most of all, Mike enjoyed fishing with his sons, whether it be steelhead or saltwater and being around his grandchildren, especially when they were babies, they were all "…his favourites…"
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, February 2, 2012 from the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
