Mona Dando Obituary
DANDO, Mona Jean (nee Reynolds) Mona Jean Dando, age 96, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2021 at her home in Saanichton, BC, after a brief illness. Born March 9, 1925 in Dorset, England, she was the daughter of Sydney and Katie Reynolds, and sister to Mary, Geoffrey, and Howard. In 1927 the family immigrated to Canada and established Sydney Reynolds Ltd. on Government Street in Victoria, dealing in fine china and crystal. Married to Arthur Dando in 1946, she is survived by her son David (Elizabeth), daughter Deborah (Kevin), and grandchildren Sarah, Jennifer, and Paul, as well as other family members. At an early age Jean began studying violin. Throughout her life she performed with various orchestras in the Victoria area. String quartet music echoed through the house on weekends as she rehearsed with colleagues in her living room. As well, Jean embraced the outdoors and coastal living. During her 25 years working at the University of Victoria Library, she rarely missed an opportunity to spend a summer afternoon at a peaceful lake or beach enjoying the water, wildlife and west coast sunshine. Jean was loved by all who knew her. Her gentle kindness and sweetness, and genuine interest in people endeared her in the hearts of whom ever she met. She will be forever loved and sadly missed. Special thanks to mom's caregivers for their kindness, compassion and support over the last few months. A private family gathering will held.
