Murray Collins Obituary

COLLINS, Murray David July 24, 1950 March 28, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Murray David Collins who died suddenly at the age of 60 on Monday, March 28, 2011. Murray will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Rhiannon Collins of Red Deer, AB; Julia Collins of Medicine Hat, AB and Justin Collins of Dutchess, AB; two grandchildren, Jayden Collins and Xavian Collins, as well as many friends. Murray had a love of music and as a result worked as a radio announcer for 30 years in a career he was passionate about. He was involved as a volunteer firefighter for several years and also enjoyed being Santa Claus at various malls over the Christmas season. Murray also had the opportunity to run with the Olympic torch this past year and felt extremely honoured and proud to be a torch bearer. Murray had an incredible sense of humour that could put a smile on someone's face and brighten their day. He will be missed terribly by his friends and family that were all so lucky to have him in their lives. Persons wishing to express their condolences to the family are asked to contact them through e-mail at [email protected] If we could have one lifetime wish, One dream that could come true, We'd ask with all our hearts, For yesterday and you. We love you Dad!! 622503

It has now been a full year since Dad has passed away. I can't believe how fast the past year has gone. It seems like only a week ago we learned of Dad's passing. Time has in no way faded our memories of him. Dad will ALWAYS be remembered by all of his children and grandchildren. We love him so very much and miss everyday that goes by without him here. Love you soooooo much Dad and am missing you terribly.

I worked with Murray D as he was sometimes called at CFCP (Coast Radio) in Courtenay B.C. We had become friends there and stayed friends for many many years after that. I just found out through another DJ friend just today Thursday Aug 4 2011 that Murray passed away. We had similar crazy personalities & I often joked for years about him and I doing a dual morning radio show. One time we were even going to do a fake show (audition) and pitch it to some stations as he was so funny. But together sometimes we would have knocked the house down. Even dual jock in Vancouver would have had a tought time beating us I thought. May God see you through Murman on what you have gone through and give you that salvation through his mercy. I am just sorry we had a falling out and never regained our old friendship. My meories of you will always be one of laughter & radio stories we shared. I wish I had known so I could have come and paid tribute there in Victoria, but may God grant peace & tranquility to the family.

I just wanted to thank everybody for all the kind words about our Dad Murray. It's great to hear from people my dad knew and worked with over the years. We miss him terribly and my only wish is that he is NEVER forgotten by anyone who knew him. I love you so much Dad and miss you TONS!

I am very sorry to hear of Murray's passing.....he was a kind and funny man. I only knew him from my early morning dog walks when Murray stopped to give my dogs cookies........he spent time talking to them and spoiling them......it reached the point where the dogs would spot that little white car and drag me over to it! He will be missed.....Bye Murray! Betty Ingalls

Murray worked doing routes for the Times-Colonist for many years. He would always bring a smile to my face when he would phone the office. He will be missed.
