As a longtime Lantzville resident, Mom and Dad together built their retirement homestead, and spent their remaining days together.
In the 1950's she successfully bred and showed collies, tricolours, sables, and blue merles. Her kennel was called Forest Glen Collies, Reg. She bred show stock, companions, and stud service dogs. She holds many awards for best of breed and best in Canadian and north American collie breeds.
Mom was an outstanding crafter, who created a beautiful home atmosphere, delightful garden, and as an astounding cook, she entertained regularly.
She was an avid photographer of wildlife, flora, fauna and family as well.
Boating lifestyle was another pleasure both mom and dad enjoyed. As members of West Van Yacht Club, and latterly of Nanaimo Yacht Club. They navigated all over the BC coast, and San Juan Islands.
Mom has traveled the world, planning trips with her sons, granddaughters, and husband. Her home is adorned with the photographs she took while on each trip.
At 96 years old, and palliative for the last year, mom received the best in home care, thanks to Sandy Parker, her nurse who took loving care of her, VIHA staff, who made several daily visits for her personal hygiene and comfort. And to Red Cross Canada, who supplied us with all the tools necessary to keep mom safe and comfortable in her home.
Surrounded by loved ones quietly in her Lantzville home, mom passed after surviving several small strokes. We miss her immensely.
