Nadine Schaddelee Obituary

SCHADDELEE, Nadine Agnes
September 22, 1947 - November 4, 2025
On November 4th, 2025 an angel was called back to the head office, as her work here was done.
Nadine passed peacefully, the same way that she lived her life, as an angel of Love, Joy, Peace, and Compassion. Nadine was born in Victoria, to Bill and Ruth Stewart, and lived here all her life. As a young child she became an amazing tap dancer. In her teen years she preformed at many venues, including the Famous Gerry Gosley Smile Show, and partnered with Sherry Black to perform as a duo called the Twin Tones. In 1967 she became a princess in the Miss Victoria Pageant; it was in this capacity that I met Nadine at the Culinary Arts Ball. I asked her to dance, and we danced all night. Eleven days later, we were engaged.
Nadine started her working career as an office worker for BC Med in the middle of the 1960s. Her boss saw her gift as just the right person to help them when the government took over St. Mary's Priory from the nuns. Nadine developed a close relationship with many of these nuns, who six months later would be at our wedding.
Nadine and I played tennis, skied, travelled, and spent many years sailing. Nadine cared deeply for her large extended family, and loved nothing more than a one-on-one to see what her cousins, nieces, and nephews were up to. Nadine was a devoted wife to Maarten and an amazing mother to Trevor (Michelle), Troy (Brenna) and Nani to Draper and Leo.
The last seven months of her life were spent as a resident of The Summit, second floor, Iris House, where she received such amazing care and support from an amazing staff. They will forever hold a special place in my heart.
A big thank you to Sheralynn Nadine Pearce who cared for Nadine with such beautiful love, and saved me from falling apart so many times.

A Celebration of Life will be held at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, on November 26th, 2025, at 2pm.

Dear Maarten and family
What a lovely tribute.
I will always remember bumping into Nadine on our
walks through the park. She would say to me " Do not forget to stop and smell the roses"
It was a reminder to slow down and notice the beauty that surrounds us .

My sincerest condolences at the loss of Nadine. I met her in a government job when she became a princess one year. I hoped to catch up with her some day but it just never happened. I moved to NB but I never forgot her beautiful person. she and a fried used to come to my house and do my hair. We sure had a lot of fun. I even have a couple of pictures somewhere in my collection. Love and hugs to all her family.

Nadine was a wonderful neighbour full of joy with inclusive happiness which enveloped the point of land we shared. From conducting singing with her star keeping time, to sharing meditation circles, always on the sunny side of life, she will be greatly missed.

For all of Nadine's family may you know that God sent a touch of heaven in this woman. May all your memories together bring you comfort as God knows of your loss! Remember you will see her wonderful smile again and it will be for eternity!
Sharing the love of dance is where Nadine and I crossed paths!
With sympathy,
Heather

Nadine was a very special friend and I will miss her so much. In our younger days Nadine was the life and soul of the party. There was no one like her and I feel very lucky to have known and loved her.

I worked with Nadine in 1968 and still remember the stars in her eyes the day after the ball where she met the man of her dreams. My deepest sympathy to the family at this sad time.

Nadine was such a special person with a spirit full of light and love. Watch for her when the eagles fly over you as she is free again. My best to Maarten and family. (The photo shows Nadine with Ken and Pat, now all gone from our lives)
