(nee Buckley/Cumming)
28 December 1949 - 7 September 2025
We are sad to announce the passing of our good friend Neela Paige. Neela was born in Trail, BC and has been a long-time resident of Victoria.
She touched many lives in her three-decade career with the University of Victoria. Neela worked in the office of the Director of Admissions before making her mark as the Admissions Assistant in the Faculty of Law for over 20 years. Neela was a veritable model of efficiency and fun! Staff and students will forever appreciate her dependability and diligence.
Neela is survived by her sister Sandra Foreman and family. Previously deceased by her good friend Claudia, Neela will be fondly remembered by her former husband Rick; friend and confidant Lembi; colleagues and friends Dick, Eileen, Janet, Lois and many others of the Begbie Belles. So many memories of the good times shared.
No service or funeral by her request. Neela's wishes were to have her ashes scattered at Willows Beach. We will honour those wishes soon on a warm and glorious Victoria day.

I knew Neely from our time at UVic. The thing I remember most is her kindness and bubbly personality. Neely made UVic a better place. My condolences to her family and friends.

I became friends with Neela while she worked in Admissions at UVic and I was over in Records, so we go back many years. She was such an "up" and "bubbly" person.
A group of "The Girls" from work took turns hosting dinner parties and Neela´s always had that special touch of elegance she instinctively created.
Neela had a wonderful sense of fashion and I will always think of her when I hear the song "Raspberry Beret", as she managed to have just the right tilt on her beret.
In her more recent years, she loved to talk about her daily walks along the oceanfront where she enjoyed taking photographs.
Rest in peace Neela.
