Norman SHRUBB Obituary

SHRUBB, Norman Passed away in Victoria, B.C. on December 14, 2013. Norman was born on July 1, 1925 in Hull, England. He served in the Royal Air Force in Zimbabwe during WWII. When he returned to England, he lived in London where he met his future wife Eileen. They were married in 1952 and immigrated to Canada in 1955 where they settled in Regina, Saskatchewan. He soon started working for the City of Regina where he rose to the position of Director of Personnel. He retired from the City in 1982 and moved to Victoria, B.C. where he could indulge in his passions for golf and tennis. He spent much of his free time volunteering for a variety of organizations including St. Peter's Church, the Abbeyfield Society and the local table tennis club. He and his wife Eileen travelled extensively throughout the world and enjoyed visiting many exotic locales. Norman is survived by his wife Eileen, his children Colin (Diane), Hazel (Jim), Barbara (Randy) and grandchildren, Riley, Devin, Eric, Logan, Claire, Nicholas and Emily, as well as his brother Barry. He was predeceased by his parents John and Miriam, his sister Joyce, his brother Clive and his son Anthony. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013 at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, B.C. A brief reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of B.C. Our family would like to thank the staff at Royal Jubilee Hospital, 2 South West for their wonderful and compassionate care.

I am so deeply sorry to hear of Norman's passing. He had always been my favourite of all my friends' fathers. I remember his constant smile and his constant kidding around. He never failed to impress me with his outgoing and warm nature. He will truly be missed.
