OLGA STEPHENS Obituary

Peacefully on the morning of October 8 with her family by her side at her home she took her last breath with grace and dignity. She was predeceased by her eldest son Gary. Survived by Bud, husband for 65 wonderful years, son Rob (Cheryl nee Skillings), daughters Susan and Lori Landolt (Kelly), grandchildren, Jordan, Shawnee, Jessica and Amber. Olga was born in Vegreville, Alberta, she went to school in Devernie, in 1949 she moved with her father (Philip Lakusta) to Vancouver, then Victoria where she met her husband to be Bud, who she married on July 31st 1951. Olga took pride in being a stay at home mom raising their 4 children with much love and tenderness. This deep love carried on to her 4 grandchildren that she adored unconditionally. As the grandchildren loved their Nana to the moon and back, as we all did. Olga spent almost 3 months in the wonderful care of the Palliative care unit at Saanich Peninsula Hospital where the nurses and volunteers treated her like a queen. She endeared herself to them with her beautiful smile every time they walked through her door. Olga was home for almost 3 weeks and was surrounded by her loving family. In her final days at home, the Hospice nurses were amazing. And to Dr. du Toit we will be forever grateful for your compassion and the special car ride, never to be forgotten. There will be a private family service at a later date, in lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care Unit. BIG HUGS......ALWAYS.

Lori, Kelly, Rob, Sue and all the grandchildren and family, I am so very sorry to hear of your dear mom and grandmother's passing. I have so many fond memories of your mom from my childhood, as Lori and I spent a lot of time both at her home as well as mine. She was a lovely lady and I know she will be very much missed. Sending love to you all.

Everyone at the Palliative Care Unit at San Penn Hospital was greatly saddened to hear of Olga's passing. She brightened up everyone's day and all the volunteer and staff looked so forward to spending time with her. We had all hoped she would have more time with her family however, she did want to be at home when the end came and for that we are all grateful. We will never forget Olga, each time we look at her room, we will remember her and that smile.

Always in our hearts,

Dana and all the volunteers at SPH.
