SEAMAN, Patrick Doyle
March 17, 1928 - July 26, 2025
Patrick Doyle Seaman died peacefully on July 26, 2025 in Victoria at the age of 97. He was born on March 17, 1928 in Calgary, Alberta.
Doyle was predeceased by his wife, Marion Ruth in 2012. Also predeceased are his siblings Walter, John, Sunny, Joyce, Elizabeth and Donna. His sister, Grace survives him.
Surviving him also are the children Doyle and Marion together raised; Ken, Heather, Margot (Donald), and Trevor (Miroslava). Doyle was a proud and engaged Grandfather to Anton, Erika, Rowan, Olivia and Daniel. We all hold precious memories of his kindness and constant love.
Doyle served in the Korean War and was honourably discharged in 1954.
Shortly thereafter he met and married Marion, and they settled in Victoria. Doyle began his career with the Engineering Department of the Ministry of Forests where he was very proud to be part of the team that built the Nass River Bridge. He was also actively involved with the Jaycees and the Masonic Lodge where he achieved the position of Grand Master.
Doyle applied his creativity and construction skills to crafting welcoming family homes in Victoria, Qualicum Beach and a cottage at Cowichan Lake. Many good times were shared by family and friends over the years at these homes which were also greatly enhanced by his landscaping and gardening projects. In addition to creating welcoming homes, he and Marion built a cohesive and loving environment supporting the lives, aspirations, and accomplishments of his four children and five grandchildren.
Doyle had a passion for nature and travel.
There were many a family trip along tenuous gravel roads to reach remote locations in BC. He also enjoyed long road trips to Mexico and California and travelled extensively around the world on various trips. He instilled in us an appreciation for nature, outdoor sports and exploring the world.
Doyle also took great pleasure in gardening and fishing. He also had the luck of the Irish in a game of cards.
The family extends their appreciation and thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Highgate and finally at Broadmead Lodge for their amazing care of Dad. The team at Broadmead helped him comfortably pass into the next realm to join Marion, his siblings and many friends.
Dad, you are dearly missed. Your legacy of love for family and quiet strength will endure with us always.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday. August 13 at McCall Gardens in the Sequoia Centre, 4665 Falaise Road, Victoria, B.C. Reception to follow. With gratitude, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Broadmead Lodge which provides such compassionate care to the veterans who served and secured our wonderful country.
