Patrick Wickens Obituary

WICKENS, Patrick James November 14th, 1947 - October 3rd, 2022 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Husband, Father and Grandfather, Patrick James Wickens. Surrounded by his loving family and rather unexpectedly, sadly Pat passed away on October 3rd, 2022. Pat was born in Victoria on November 14th, 1947. He grew up in both Victoria and on Salt Spring Island before he met the love of his life Krystyna. They were married in 1970 and spent the next 52 years together raising a family, laughing, loving and enjoying one another. Pat will be dearly missed by his loving wife Krystyna, sons Kasey, and Randy (Danielle), granddaughters Alysha with partner D'Shawn, Kenzie and his sister Kriss Wickens. Pat was a devoted family man and always someone we could count on with whatever and whenever was needed. He had many interests in life which included: sports, coaching, carpentry, hot rods and music. However, nothing was more important to him than his family. This is a value that he has instilled in all of us. Pat loved nothing more than watching his sons and granddaughters play multiple sports but especially baseball/softball. You would often find Pat at the ball fields conversing with friends, looking for foul balls and occasionally giving it to the umpires! Pat was a tremendously skilled carpenter whose skills and knowledge were second to none. Patrick was very quick witted and had an absolutely amazing sense of humour. He never failed to put a smile on anyone's face, which in turn put a smile on his face. His generosity and selflessness will never be forgotten. Neither will his ability to change lyrics in songs to get a laugh. This skill he likely learned from a man he cherished, his Uncle Ted. One thing that always seemed to bring joy to Patrick was the love of all the puppies in his life. He was truly an original! We will miss you and always love you. Rest in peace. We wish to extend our deepest condolences to Pat's family. Saddened to learn of his passing. We enjoyed endless chats about life and about our dogs around the Gordon Head neighborhood and Lambrick Park over the years. We were recently thinking of him... Thinking of you all. Take care.
