Paul MOLONEY Obituary

MOLONEY, Paul
January 22, 1963 - October 27, 2025
October 27th saw us saying so long to our most beloved husband, father and Pappy P.

His leukaemia diagnosis seemed to come with little warning and left us with a mere 13 weeks to spend as a family, navigating through thoughts, memories and hopes for our futures. Many a tear was shed, but so, too, were the laughs. In Paul's characteristic way, he'd delve into the lives of all those who worked to provide comfort and care and share his life stories and sage advice.

Paul was proud to say he was dying with no regrets. His early retirement and frequent world adventures made him tell everyone to embrace life and live it to its fullest.

His deepest gratitude and pride came from his daughters, and becoming Pappy P with the birth of our granddaughter, Ivy, found him completely overjoyed! He would spend hours from his hospital bed studying her photos and replaying her videos when she wasn't there in person to entertain him.

Paul, being a deep thinker, would often put his thoughts on paper, so it was only appropriate that he wrote his final thoughts…

In loving memory of Paul Moloney.

Passed away October 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and boundless love for the great outdoors.

Born in Melbourne, Australia on January 22, 1963, Paul was never one to sit still. In 1990 he had his first urge of travel and subsequently came to Victoria, BC, where much to his surprise, he met the love of his life, Stephanie. Together they raised two daughters, Natalie (Skyler) and Claire (Michael), and in August of 2024, a granddaughter, Ivy Eleanor, was welcomed into this world which brought immense pride to Paul.

Paul found joy in the rustle and thrill of a mountain trail, and the serenity of a quiet lake at sunset or sunrise. The past six years after retiring from owning and operating Moloney's Painting Inc in Victoria, he spent numerous serene moments at his cottage on Salt Spring, plus exploring the beauty of this world on one of his many hiking adventures.

But more than his love of nature, Paul will be remembered for his generous spirit, his loyalty to friends and family, and his uncanny ability to make everyone feel like they belonged.

A heartfelt thank you to all those who were a part of Paul's medical journey. From Royal Jubilee emergency to the transport teams, to Dr. Song and the team at VGH Leukemia/BMT unit, to the amazing staff on 7west palliative care at Lion's Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, and finally to North Shore Hospice a place Paul frequently said was the next best thing to home, our deepest gratitude.

Finally, if you'd like to do something in Paul's memory, consider giving blood. The countless, selfless people that gave of their time and blood enabled Paul to live awhile longer…to make memories with his granddaughter, a truly precious gift.

A celebration of life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at 2:00pm
