Pauline East Obituary

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandma and wife, Pauline East after a tussle with cancer choosing to die with dignity and kindness at a time of her choosing on March 28, 2025.
Born in Fernie, BC on June 23, 1943. This town has played a huge role in her life, it is where she met and married Stewart East. They had two children together: Laurel (Bob) and Ryan (Rachel). Grandchildren Shandra (Mathieu), Ella, Dane and Arden who brought joy to her life. We all grieve her passing and will always remember her.
Pauline went into teaching, attending Victoria College and later she obtained her degree at UVIC. Teaching elementary children was very rewarding and so many cherished friends have been made throughout her teaching career. Retiring after 32 years teaching the primary grades kindergarten to grade 3. She loved kindergarten especially!
The family would like to thank all the health professionals that touched her life at the end and cared for her with compassion and kindness.
A service will be held on April 19th at 10:00 am at First Memorial, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, B.C.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to B.C Cancer. dignitymemorial.com

My deepest condolences to Stewart and your family for your loss.

Pauline & Stewart were my neighbours when we lived up on the Ridge.
It was great to have such lovely, friendly people living next door. Pauline was such a talented person. Loved her quilting and their dog.

My deepest sympathies to Pauline“s family in this difficult time. Pauline was very kind and helpful to me when I was starting out as a teacher at McKenzie Elementary School. She was a much loved, highly creative teacher who always put her students first. I was fortunate to have had her as a colleague.

I was so sorry to hear about Paulines passing. We played bridge together for over thirty years. She was a lovely woman and she made the most beautiful quilts.
