Pauline PETERS Obituary

PETERS, Pauline Mary Garnon February 6, 1929 - October 12, 2012 Born in Cardiff, Wales on February 6th, 1929 Pauline spent the first 30 years of her life in the U.K. She joined the Wrens & soon after met the dashing naval pilot she would later marry. Pauline married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Peters on May 12th, 1951 and spent the next 60 years sharing his many great adventures. They emigrated to Canada in July 1959 and lived in Victora, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Whitehorse, Yellowknife, and Ottawa returning to Victoria upon their retirement. Pauline and Dick spent several years as docents at the Royal BC Museum and many happy hours indulging in their hobby, genealogy. The great love of Pauline's life, Dick, left on his final great adventure on March 30th, 2011 and true to her life long commitment to him she followed him on October 12th, 2012. Left with a lifetime of happy memories are her children Sara (Michael) Deacon of St. Albert, Alberta, Garnon (Isabelle) Peters of North Saanich, B.C, Louise Peters (John Herbert) of Victoria, B.C, and Karina (Randal) Guy of St. Albert, Alberta. Also her beloved grandchildren Matt & Josh Deacon, Brendan & Connor Guy, and Dylan & Cameron Peters. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and her faithful dog Charlie, her true companion to the very end. Many Thanks to Dr. Paul Keith & the Palliative Team and to Sherrie Halleran who cared for Mom with great compassion in the final weeks of her life. A celebration of Pauline's life will be held on Friday, October 19th in the Sallas Room at The Sidney Pier Hotel from 10am-Noon. God speed Mom - we know you are dancing with Dad.

Pauline was a classy and sassy lady who brought a smile to my face and to my heart. She was bright, funny, generous person who loved to share her enthusiasm for aviation, genealogy, movies, family, Downton Abbey and Indian curries with Doug and me.
Just thinking of her I can see the twinkle in her eye and feel the warmth of her personality.
Pauline you are missed.

Sometimes I catch myself
Thinking, "When I phone,
I can talk of this or that!"
Then I remember, I am alone.

You were always there
To answer my calls -
To listen to my "small talk"
Or when I climbed the walls.

At times, I didn't feel like talking
And somehow you understood -
Didn't say you wished I'd called
Or make me feel I should.

Now I wish I could have more time
To show you how much I cared
To say just how important
Were all the times we shared.

Now it's too late to do or say
All those things I wish I had -
No way to ease the pain inside
When my heart is feeling so sad.

I miss you every day mom but especially Sunday & Wednesday when we had our "chats". Love you forever & always. Sara

Jake my Maltipoo and I will miss this lovely woman, her candid kindness, wry observations and warmth. We will miss dear little Charlie too. She made us smile. My sympathies to the family she loved to talk about. Not long ago, a chance meeting, talking, walking dogs, Pauline looked at me with a great smaile and said (in conversation about her grandchildren) "I just love giving them money. It makes me so very happy."

Karina and Family,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your wonderful Mother. She was always so elegant and thoughtful. I will never forget both of your parents and the love that they had for one another. What a connection! Dance away Mr. & Mrs. Peters! xo

When Pauline and Dick were living in Yellowknife, Dick was sent to The Edmonton General Hospital and Pauline stayed with us. Our friendship was instant and durable. She was an incredible giving woman with an irresistible zest for life. Yes, they will dance together.
