Condolences to all. What a full life and amazing tribute. Shawnigan day with Uncle Peter and the Coffee Klatsch was the highlight of every summer growing up. Always making sure us kids had fun with a smile, a laugh and a speedy ride around the lake. These are warm, sunny memories that I am grateful for. Wishes and thoughts with you. Rest in peace Uncle Peter.

I was a student at Oak Bay Junior when Peter Boldt was principal, around 1967-1969. I remember him very fondly indeed--as a most kindly, helpful, encouraging, enthusiastic, and profoundly decent man who performed a difficult job with grace and aplomb. I was never a student in one of his classes, but he made the whole school feel like a better place. During the whole time I was a student there, I never heard any student say anything negative about him, and that is a remarkable accomplishment. He was marvellous.

I miss Peter's stories very much. Being his friend and correspondent was a tremendous privilege and I miss him.
To Peter's lovely family: you are in my heart, and I am thinking of you and Peter with so much love.

Anne, Rob, Jeannie and Families, I was so sad to see this news. Mr. Boldt was one of the nicest teachers I had at OBJH. He was always kind to me, and that is how I have always remembered him. I am so sorry for your loss, I know you all will carry him in your heart.

I completely echo what my sister Beth has written here, and what others have shared. Peter & Alma knew me when my eyes first opened — and then Marion too — and I felt only love & kindness in their home and dear family. Peter was a magnificent friend, teacher and principal: one of his great secrets was to be genuinely, even uniquely interested in each of us, and to enjoy how we were learning and progressing along the way. I truly feel there was no storm or mountain in life he could not face and conquer. I also feel he had so much more he could have taught me/us if time had permitted. What joy I felt in reading his occasional notes or chatting by phone about his projects at home and how wonderfully proud he was of everyone in his family. Now Peter, go with God into that great day where there is no darkness and only light. We will do our best to follow in due time. Hugs and love always!

My dad, Ken Robertson, was a teacher at Mckenzie during Mr. Boldt’s time there. I helped my dad a few times getting his classroom ready for the new school year, which is how I came to know Mr. Boldt.
He always made a point of taking the time to thank me for helping my dad, saying that it ultimately helped the school. My dad always spoke fondly of these years at Mckenzie.
On a couple of occasions, I was fortunate to attend the gatherings at his Shawnigan Lake cabin, when he and Marion entertained the McKenzie staff and their families at the lake. Very enjoyable times.
After his retirement, I periodically bumped into him when he was shopping for items for his boat at Capital Iron, where I worked. He was always excited to see me, wanting to find out what was new in my life, sometimes offering some encouragement toward furthering my education.
What an amazing and full life, we were fortunate to have known him.
My condolences to his family.

To the Family of Peter Boldt
Peter Boldt was one of the most respected individuals I have met in my lifetime. I knew him for 30 years. A man of integrity he always put the best construction on everything.
I will cherish the memory of the times that we spent with him and Marion. The world is poorer for his departure.

Condolences to all the family. I reconnected with Peter (he said not to say Mr. Boldt) after my mother died this past October. He and Alma were friends with my folks, Archie and Lois. Dad and Peter bonded as they both hailed from small towns in Alberta and had found a home in Victoria. Peter had my twin brother and I to deal with in Sunday school at St. Andrews when we were in maybe ten. Peter was my principal at OBJH. Such a wonderful and authentic man. RIP Peter.

I worked with Peter at McKenzie School until his retirement. He was a wonderful principal, really cared and supported all the students and staff. Many wonderful get togethers were held at his cabin on Shawnigan Lake. In later years, after his retirement, he became a ham radio operator, VE7GCG, and being as my husband is a ham as well, we spent a lot of time with him throughout the years. We will miss him greatly, he was always kind, cheerful and interested in what everyone was doing. His life was well lived. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Marilyn

Peter Boldt and our family were best of friends, both families having moved to Victoria in 1955 & joined St. Andrew's Presbyterian; Peter was like a brother to our Dad, Bert Weatherdon, & a supportive friend to all our family. His wife Alma was as outgoing and supportive, so sad that she passed so young. I recall that Marian & Peter & spouses had been very, very close friends for years, then both widowed, they finally wed and continued their happy lives together, contributing evenly to all of our family in love, acceptance and support, having been at Bert & Verna's kids weddings, at Keith's funeral at way too young an age, and always been there to offer whatever support they could to any of us; these special occasions would be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian on Douglas St. Peter often sat on the Weatherdon Memorial Bench located at Clover Point, not far from his home. Many boating trips and functions at Capital City Yacht Club were enjoyed between Bert, Verna, Peter & Marian. We will miss Peter's annual Christmas letters but we know he is at Peace and reunited with all of his loved ones and friends that have pre-deceased him. Our hearts go out to ALL Peter's family, even if the younger members don't know us now, you've likely heard Peter's stories of special times with his close friends at the Yacht Club and Church. Peter was Beth's Vice-Principal at Lansdowne & also her younger brother Brian's. So many wonderful memories of times shared, Marian having held a Bridal Shower for Beth in 1968, our families enjoying many meals together, sharing recipes which we still have & make to this day. They lovingly welcomed ALL members of our family as very special people & friends! Our family all remembers Peter and Marian!!
Sincerely with loads of love, Beth & Tom Pengelly, AND our family!!

Of all the school heads I had, Peter Boldt was the one who left the most positive impression on me.
I can't recall one of my fellow OBJH students who didn't like him, and that's saying a LOT . That he will be remembered fondly by thousands is a rare privilege, & one his family should be immensely proud of.

Dear family, Peter was a dear man and my Godfather, am very sorry for your loss, but as you said he certainly lived a long and fruitful life; he was an absolute gem!
Was warmed to receive a lovely email from him last year, and giggled with delight at his ability to use the Internet!
Attached photo shows dear Peter on the left at my christening!

I enjoyed reading about Uncle Peter’s life. What an interesting and influential 97 years he had on this earth. I have nice memories about his stories but it was always about other family members and rarely about himself. Except when he told me about meeting Alma for the first time. You could hear the love he had for her when he told me that story. Love to you all. Marc, Kaelynne and Nikki.

Peter delivered one of the best speeches in Port Angeles at the international amateur radio picnic one August. Everyone from both countries cheered loudly. The Callum County Amateur Radio Club had invited the Victoria Short Wave Club.

Dear Jeanne and Family,
I have very fond memories of your father when he was my Vice Principal at Landsdowne. He always had a smile on his face which lit up the hallways. Mr. Boldt’s endearing personality made you feel valued and proud to be a student where he exemplified that learning was important in a respectful environment.
It was a real pleasure to know such a wonderful and caring educator who was a real gentleman.
Respectfully,
Ajmare Sundher

Peter was me and my sister, Karen's, unofficial "uncle" as we're all the aunts and uncles of the Coffee Clatch. This group made up the life long friends of my mum and dad, Mona and Gordon, and was the source of many happy memories for us. I remember bbqs and parties full of laughter and jokes, but one of my most treasured memories is of visiting Peter's cabin at Shawnigan Lake. This was always a much looked forward to day of adventure, eating, swimming and water skiing. We loved it. Peter was never anything if not enthusiatic and to be caught in his beam meant you were made to feel special. Peter was a wonderful man and special friend to our family who gave us many wonderful memories. Rest in peace, uncle Peter.
Lots of love, Anne

I had known Peter for 66 years, since I was 4 years old and he used to walk me on the ceiling. We were neighbors in Victoria and at Shawnigan Lake. My best memories had to be from Shawnigan. Peter teaching all the kids to water ski. And when I stayed over at their cabin (Aframe house) I remember Peter made the best thin pancakes with rolled up with jam. So many good memories with Peter and Alma. Love and hugs to all the family❤

Peter was such a loving man. Whenever in his company, he would greet me with a big smile and also a big hug. It is sad that he left us, however, I know that now he is with his other loving family . He was always surrounded by so much love while he was here.

Peter Boldt was a wonderful, caring man. I first met him when I was elected to the Greater Victoria School Board and he was the principal at McKenzie Elementary School. At a public hearing regarding the need for a pedestrian overpass on the new McKenzie Street at the school, he defended me against Mayor Mel Couvelier who was very rude and challenged my remarks in support of the overpass. I will never forget his support and the support of the parents who filled a front row of Saanich Council's meeting room!! He is in the Light of Spirit and all is well with him.

Indeed, Peter was a "Man for all Seasons"!! Extremely talented and very capable at everything he turned his hand to--he loved working with students and had a real heart for people, in general.
He will be missed by all those who knew him and particularly the students he spent his many hours with.
Rest well Peter in your new home!
