Peter Isles Obituary

ISLES,
Reverend Peter William Richard
1932 - 2024
Reverend Peter William Richard Isles passed away peacefully at home in Sidney, BC with his son, David and daughter, Maureen by his side. Peter, born in London, England came to Canada in 1953 after a challenging upbringing as a WWII evacuee. Peter pursued his education at the University of Saskatchewan, Emmanuel College. Peter was ordained in 1958 in the Anglican Church where he served many parishes in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Some of his most rewarding work was with the war veterans at the memorial pavilion from 1983 until his retirement in 1995.
Peter was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan in 2006 and his grandson, Thomas Poulsen in 2020. He belonged to many organizations, often taking leadership roles in groups such as The Boy Scouts, the Victoria Magic Circle, The Victoria Camera Club, The Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Peter is survived by his son David (Gennifer) and daughter Maureen Vincent; grandchildren William, Jada, Rebecca, Alex (Bree), Jonathan and great-grandson Bradley.
Dad was a mild-mannered gentle soul and had a loving generous heart. His quirky sense of humour was appreciated by all, especially his children. The "Dadisms" will live on in us forever.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, 4733 W. Saanich Road, Victoria, BC with a reception to follow in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive.

it was a privilege to get to witness his humour and his "dadisms". I understood that phrase right away once I read it above

Sending my loving prayers to the family. Rev. Isles was a caring and wonderful person. Growing up at St. John the Baptist church in Colwood, he was our parish priest from 1964 to 1968. During that time, he officiated at my sisters wedding. Over years I have so enjoyed seeing him occasionally. One of the occasions was the consecration of Church of the Advent. God Bless. I am so sorry to learn of Peter's death. He was a wonderful man and a true Freemason. Such a gentle soul who never had a cross word to say about anyone. His memory will live on forever in our Masonic Lodge. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

So sorry for your loss, Maureen and David. You are in my thoughts and if you need anything please let me know. It is heartbreaking to lose a parent, the ones we turn to for advice, comfort and unconditional love. Be kind to yourself and take the time to grieve.

I am sorry to hear of Peter´s passing. I knew both he and Joan through the Order of the Eastern Star. I remember that he had a beautiful singing voice as I first discovered at a meeting in Powell River.

I am saddened to hear this news.
Peter was my minister at St Matthews Church Langford when I was a youth.
He was a wonderful mentor and such a humble gentle man.
He is finally with Joan again.
I treasure those memories.
"He will rise up with wings.."
