Philip Barker Obituary

BARKER, Philip Stephen
Philip Stephen Barker was born in Victoria, BC where he lived, loved and explored almost all of his life until his death on March 14, 2023 at the age of 75 years.

Phil had an incredibly interesting life. He was a kind and loving family man. A patient man, smart, talented, adventurous and hard working. True to form he humbly requested us to keep his obituary short and sweet.

Survived by Diann, his beloved wife of 53 years, his son Kevin, daughter Michelle (Scott), his Grandchildren Savannah, Nathan and Cassidy, brother David (Irene), many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Predeceased by his father David Barker Sr, his Mother Dorothy, and many friends and family.

A Celebration of Phil's life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services in Royal Oak on Thursday, March 23 at 2:00 pm.

The family would like to thank anyone wishing to honour Phil through a memorial gift to do so through the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Victoria Humane Society.

Very sorry for your loss. We are moving from Victoria and we have found a picture and a Certificate of Authenticity of a Print No. 64/123, the picture if called 'EVENING ANCHOR'. wondering if this could be the same person?
You can reply to me if you wish to Karen Reidie Thorstad at my email: [email protected] or message me at (250) 514-1498 Thank you, and again, so sorry for your loss, he sounds like a wonderful man.

Diann & Family - It is with such a very sad feeling to know that Phil has passed. After Reg passed we corresponded a number of times. I loved to see Phil's art work, so stunning. I hardly know what to say other than I hope you realize how terribly sorry I was to hear this news. You will all be in my thoughts during this sad, sad, time.

Would like to have been at Phil's memorial today if I could...he was one of my favourite high school friends because of his kind and thoughtful ways, his love of music and art and his quiet sense of humour. The kind of man his family and friends will miss enormously. He'd probably love to have heard that we brought Pickleball to our rural community.

I enjoyed working with Phil at Shaw Cable, particularly because of his fabulous energy, enthusiasm and creative thinking on many projects. I will always remember his laugh and smile which brightened some challenging and tough days in our industry. He was a tremendous professional and I was fortunate to know him. My condolences to DIann and Phil's entire family. Phil's presence has left some brilliant memories, which I hope will lighten the load at this sad time.

I´m so very sorry to hear about Phil´s passing. I knew Phil through pickleball, seeing him mostly at Pearkes open play. We partnered once for a tournament there and had such a good time. Hard to find a nicer, friendlier person, that is for sure. My sincere condolences to his family. He will be missed by many.
