Philip Kotchonoski Obituary

KOTCHONOSKI, Philip B. February 7, 1930 December 21, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend after a short battle with cancer. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife Joyce, children Michael, Mark and Jane, daughter-in-laws Darlene and Trina and grandchild Tess, as well as many relatives and friends. Philip had a great ability to make friends. His easy going attitude and sense of humour endeared him to many, many people over the years. It was with his close circle of friends, whom he affectionately called "The Gang" that he had the closest bond and enjoyed spending time with the most. All the good times that were had over the years were very special to him. His homemade pot of borscht will be missed by all. Many heart felt thanks go to the doctors and staff of The Victoria Hospice Richmond Pavilion that supported him and his family with such compassion during his illness. A service will be held for Philip at St. Patrick's Parish, 2060 Haultain St., January 6, 2007 at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please support The Victoria Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation at 1952 Bay St.,V8R 1J8. 326760

Dear Joyce, Mike, Mark & Jane

Phil was one of those rare, spirited individuals that you come across in your life. He was usually upbeat and thoughtfull of others. (Except when behind the wheel of course). Phil will be remembered for his great horseshoe ringers. I will have to take on the whole bloody Kotochonski crowd by myself now. However, I know that Phil will be with me to guide each and every horseshoe to the pin and uphold the trophy.

Love to you all

Joyce & Family
What can I say! Philip was quite a guy. Full of fun with a twinkle in his eye and a true friend. I'll miss him. Hope he and Norm stay out of trouble up there!

Dear Joyce, Jane, Mark & Mike:

Twenty years ago, while working at the Banff Springs Hotel, we meant Joyce & Phil. Everyone knew them both & Philip was a legend; hockey & Philip went together. At the golf course he treated everyone the same, whether you were famous or a kid learning how to golf.He always took the time to help others, no matter who you were. As we all know he never hesitated to say what was on his mind and he would put a smile on our face with some of his comments. Phil was quite a character and a quinine friend who would do anything for his family & friends. Philip your friendship was a gift. No doubt you are busy organizing a hockey game in heaven, playing with all of the greats, as well as your friends & the kids who you helped along the way. You will always be with us & we love you. God Bless.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Philip's passing. He was a long-time friend and a very special person.
Our thoughts are filled with memories of the childhood adventures of two young fellows who were known as "Mutt and Jeff", and more recent memories of the laughs we shared at the annual Coal Miners Reunions.
Our thoughts are with you.
