Reta Bitten Obituary

BITTEN, Reta Reta Beatrice Ferguson Bitten died June 16, 2007. Born August 10, 1919, the only child of Thomas Rork Scott Ferguson, a King Member of Parliament for Hastings-Peterboro, and Ethel Beatrice Jenkins. After Senior Matric at Norwood High School, she trained at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal, graduate of the 1942 class, with a PG in Operating Room in 1943. Accepted into the Royal Canadian Medical Army Corp January, 1944, she served at Borden, Surrey, NB, England, for D-Day and Oldenburg, Germany. Demobilized in Vancouver, B.C., August, 1946. She nursed at QMCH, Montreal, Alcan in Arvida, at the Wire & Cable, NE, Lachine. She married Arthur Walter Bitten on Epiphany, 1951. Rev. Bitten was ordained at St. Andrews-Wesley, Vancouver, May, 1965. They served Home Mission charges at Sarnia, and in the North and South Thompson in B.C. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Elizabeth Simms McCliggott; and son, Richard Ferguson Bitten, and his wife, Brenda Bitten; Rod, Rick, Jr., Crystal, and Miranda, her grandchildren; Austin, and Braeden, her great-grandchildren. Retired in 1975, she carried on her mother's clipping for the United Church, Liberals, and nursing and her Grandmother Ferguson's crafts. Nursing thirty years full time left her a semi shutin, but every day was a feast of the Strait where her ashes will be spread and the success of her family with the strength of generations of Bible and sacred song. Estates were given to the charges in her service there. With so many to take our place, we can only rejoice. 384198
