It is with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of our late National Past President Rex Guy.
The President, Officers and Members of Medicine Hat Branch 20 extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to his wife and family.
I first met Rex at the 1992 FSNA National Convention and was greatly impressed by his demeanor and his interest in advancing the objectives of the Association. As a Regional Director, Rex volunteered to take on the enormous task of reorganizing and classifying the mountain of Standing Resolutions with excellent results. As National President, Rex spared neither time nor energy in furthering the aims of the FSNA. Indeed, through work and devotion to his duties in the various positions he filled, he has left an indelible mark of achievement on the Association that should endure for years to come.
Rex will be greatly missed not only by his family but also by his many friends and colleagues throughout the FSNA.

Dear Mrs Guy,
My name is Gary Reddy. I served under Capt(N) Guy's Command in HMCS PROTECTEUR. I remember many enlightening days on the bridge under his tutelage. Capt(N) Guy held his Officer's of the Watch to task but we can all say that our ability and confidence as Ship's Officers grew with each deployment. I have a picture of Capt(N) Guy in my scrap book as a fond reminder of his leadership and my time in HMCS PROTECTEUR. Please accept my condolences in the loss of your husband. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Yours aye,
Gary Reddy

Condolances to Elizabeth and the Guy family. I recall hosting Rex and Elizabeth in White Rock, BC, as a new Branch President in 1997 or 1998 and was inspired by the clarity of his presentation on the status of the FSNA. We have all benefited from his stewardship of and his contributions to the organization, with the support of his partner.

I was a Naval Control of Shipping Officer in the 1980's and 1990's and Captain Guy was one of the most influential officers on my military career. He had a marvelous sense of humour, tremendous professional bearing, and was a wealth of knowledge about our profession. He was one of a kind and if I may make an inside joke: I loved making that Convoy Commodore Barbie for you...almost as much as I think you enjoyed receiving it!
Sir, you were simply the best...thank you.
My condolences to your family and friends who will miss you so.

I had the pleasure of meeting Captain(N) Guy during my training in Halifax at the NCS training centre in the early 1990's. He was an intimidating figure, due to his rank, his experience and his presence. Once the initial shock wore off, and one got to work with the Captain, one couldn't help but feel a sence of awe and pride that such a man was willing to give his time and energy to our trade. His influence on my naval career was significant, and he never even knew it. Captain(N) Guy was a great man, and a great Naval Officer. I am truely sorry for your loss, but please take some consolation in knowing that he touched the lives of many officers and made them better by knowing him.

Dear Aunt Liz,
I have many memories of you and Uncle Rex - to cherish and hold close to my heart... Just the other day I was looking at photos from my visits with you, at the Captain's House at Stadacona. I will always miss him. Please know you in my prayers right now. Amber sends her love too, she was terribly saddened to hear the news. She was very fond of her Great-Uncle. With Love...
