RICHARD BURKE Obituary

Richard Burke was born in London England to William and Doris Burke. He is survived by his sister Tina; daughters Sharon Causley (Nigel) and Michelle Burke; step-daughter Debbie (Bob); grandchildren Sam, Daisy, Rosie, Kitty, Susie, Charlotte, Alison and Holly; great-grandchildren Tommy, Fifi and Leo; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, brother Michael and by his wife Lee, his soulmate.

Richard was a Chartered Accountant in positions with major firms across Canada, finally settling in Victoria. He became an investment advisor with Investors Group and Manulife before retiring. Richard's passions included his dogs, golf, the Union Club (President 2002-2004) and charity work with the Harbourside Rotary Club (Honorary Member). He also was a founding member of Angel Flight. His many friends and colleagues will remember Richard as a charming and well-dressed gentleman, with a quick wit - albeit sometimes a little close to the bone! But always in good fun and with a twinkle in his eye.

Many thanks to the staff at Mount St. Mary Hospital for their care for Richard over the last year. At his request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Rotary Club of Victoria Harbourside Foundation, c/o The Union Club of British Columbia 805 Gordon Street, Victoria, B.C. V8W 1Z6

My dear Uncle Richard, my dad, Micheal´s, brother. Due to the physical distance, we met only a few times, but Nana Burke, Doris, always kept us up to date with all goings on in Canada. We met again at my sister, Mandy´s, wedding and then only a few months after we took a wonderful trip with my mum, Celia, and brother, Chris, to Victoria to stay with you and Auntie Lee. It was spectacular, we arrived on Boxing Day and saw all the Christmas lights. We went to see the nutcracker theatre production and many more fabulous outings. Mum, Chris and I took the ferry, hired a car from Vancouver and drove the `sea to ski highway´ to Whistler and skied Blackcomb mountain. Wow it was vast.
Another wonderful memory was when my cousin Mark and I organised a family reunion with all the `Burke´s´ back in 2015. We all ascended on a small town called Oakham, where I met my cousin´s Sharon and Michelle, uncle Richards daughter's and their families, for the first time.
The 3 Burke siblings and most of their families enjoyed 3 fabulous days of making truly magical memories. Thank you. Xx
