I just learned of Richard's passing and am sorry for this sad loss.
We met in the fall of 1995 through a mutual friend. That friend is a 1931 Model A Ford Deluxe Roadster that came to Richard in the spring of 1954. He was working at his Dad's Auto Garage and Dealership, Noble's Limited, at 396 St. George Street, corner of Cameron, in Moncton, NB. They sold Hudsons and the relatively new and novel Volkswagen as well as used cars. The roadster was an immediate attraction to Richard. It was like new with only 13,000 miles of careful use by its original owner after 23 years. As much as he loved it, he did not have a garage to store it and he and June were starting their family with money being in short supply. So, he called his friend, Hillis (Sonny) Shaw in Coldbrook, NS. Hillis also loved Model As and had a garage. Richard served as broker for the transaction, a whopping $150., and the Roadster was given a safe harbor with Hillis and family for the next 14 years before it went to another admirer and years later to me.
Notwithstanding Richard's love for June and their family, there was another love reserved for this particular car that slipped through his hands. When he learned of my ownership we quickly became good friends and he shared many memories related to it.
This still beautiful Roadster owes a debt to Richard for ensuring that it went to a good home when many others were scrapped after WW II.
I'll miss our conversations and his great memory for detail that helped reunite the Roadster with its history.
With fond recollections,
- Gar

We had the pleasure and honour of meeting Dick through several automobile purchases for our family. He was a true gentleman and professional who earned him an amazing reputation in the Auto industry. We also enjoyed his and June's company on a social basis. His legacy will live on in his family and his business through Russ.
