Richard Primeau Obituary

PRIMEAU, Richard Castle February 8, 1924 - October 27, 2015 Richard (Dick) took his last breath on Tuesday, October 27th in St. Paul's Hospital. Dick was a true gentleman, loved by everyone he met. He was renowned for his puns and offbeat humour that always left you laughing no matter what the occasion. Born in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan, he grew up in North Saanich and served in the RCAF during W.W. II. While attending the school of Optometry at the University of Illinois, he met and married the love of his life. Dick and Rusty Primeau settled in Vancouver, raised three daughters Lynn (Adrian), Tracy (Tony) and Wendy (John). He leaves behind granddaughters Kristine and Alena and many nieces and nephews. Less than a year ago Dick and Rusty celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. His passing was a reflection of a life well lived - loving, peaceful and surrounded by family who will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honour from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Parish, 3778 West 28th Ave. in Vancouver. The family is grateful for the loving care he received at St. Paul's hospital and request that in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to the St. Paul's Hospital Foundation Hemodialysis Unit or Palliative Care, https://donate.helpstpauls.com/in-memoriam. Dear Rusty. Sorry that Dick has passed on. I'm glad that I made it to the reception, but sorry to have missed out on the wonderful speeches/tributes about Dick.
You and Dick have been missed at the Austria Vancouver Club dances. You both always looked smashing -- you with your gowns and Dick with his Tux and Bow-tie. I remember you celebrating many Wedding Anniversaries at the New Year's Eve dances. I think that he will be dancing in Heaven.
Take care of yourself.

We had the pleasure of knowing Dick.
He was always warm and was a fantastic host.
I enjoyed lawn bowling with Dick,as he was a fantastic player and bailed me out on my inferior throws.
We will miss his hospitality and friendship.

Losing a loved one is never easy, but know that his love will always be there for you all. "The life given us is short, but the memory of life spent is eternal." May his memory give you all the strength through this tough time...love to my dear friend Wendy and her family..

To Dr Primeau's family, I just wanted to let you know that he was my favorite optometrist, and that I went to him when I was in the first grade (1954) and continued with him until he sold his practice. I'm happy that he was able to enjoy a long retirement and my sympathy to the family on his passing.
