Richard WEEGAR Obituary

WEEGAR, Richard Gary (Max) Max passed away peacefully on Friday November 15 surrounded by his loving family at Royal Jubilee Hospital. Max was born in North Bay, Ontario to Carl and Betty Weegar on May 10, 1935. He joined the Canadian Air Force in the early 50's and was stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany where he met the love of his life and soul-mate, Ilse. Max, Ilse, and daughter Marianne left Germany in the early 60's to an assignment in Cold Lake, Alberta where eldest son Tom was born and then another stint in Zweibrucken three years later yielded youngest son Terry. Max retired from the Air Force to the Comox Valley where he became one of the Valley's premier real estate agents. Max moved his family to Victoria in the late 80's and the family has called Victoria home ever since. Fifty-five years of marriage could not diminish Max's love for his wife as just hours before he left us, he whispered to Ilse, "God, you look beautiful!" Max is survived by his wife Ilse, daughter Marianne, sons Tom and Terry, daughter-in-law Sheila, grandson Thompson, brother Dr. Bob Weegar and nieces and nephews from North Bay, Ontario. A celebration of Life will be held for Max on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Services in Saanich, BC (250-658-5244). In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favourite charity in Max's honour.

Gary and I were great friends in high school and were both singers in the high school Glee Club. Sorry we didn't keep in touch. Good friend.

IIse, Marianne, Tom and Terry, please except my condolences on the passing of Gary. He was a great man with tons of personality and was always full of life. He had a smile on his face whenever you say him. We were glad Gary got the chance to again come to North Bay a fews years back, it was great to see him. I will miss my Uncle very much. Wish you all the very best going forward. Love Carl Weegar

We lost a wonderful friend. Even though we will no longer hear him laugh, see the twinkle in his eye, see his broad smile, hear his kind words or feel his big hugs, they live forever in our memories. To Ilse and family, I am at a loss for words during this sorrowful time. Please know that I am thinking of you and praying for peace and comfort. I love you.

My condolences to your family Max.... We know you are at peace and will always watch over them. You always spoke about your family when you came in for your visits with Dr Kelly.. you would smile from ear to ear of how proud they made your life. I will never forget the story of your St Bernard pup and the king size bed you had to make for your daughter and her pup. May your family find peace and healing, as you have. God Bless.. from Laura Alberti ( Medical secretary for Dr John Kelly)
