ROSS, Rob March 21, 1948 - October 30, 2012 (64 yrs.) Rob Ross passed away peacefully with his wife Marlene by his side. They had a journey spanning 50 years, covering dating since the age of 14 and 42 years of marriage. What a wonderful and amazing husband, dad, papa, uncle, brother and friend. Rob's two sons, Reese (sons Kaiden and Jaxson) and Jim (wife Melanie and sons Rylan and Kobe) will forever remember his love of family, the good times of being together and Papa watching his grandsons hockey and lacrosse games. He touched the hearts of so many people. He never complained. Rob always put himself last and the rest of us first. To Ron Young thank you for being his big brother and to Judy Young thank you for being what he called his 2nd wife and to their sons Joshua and Danny for being uncle Rob's 3rd and 4th sons. Also, thank you for all the memories Leah Ross and Marlene's family, sister-in-law Jackie and brother-in-law Bill and families. Rob was one of 5 Ross boys, Rob being the oldest, Ron (wife Brenda, daughter Sherri and family), Ed (wife Nancy, daughters Tammy and Wendy and families), Tim (sons Jordan and Bob) and Ted. To his friends and family in Rob's words,"I love all of you and hope you live a long life and hope to see you again. Bye-bye for now." Rob's most precious memories are of: being a James Bay rat until the age of 12. Coaching at Gordon Head little league and Babe Ruth at Henderson Park. Hunting and fishing for many years with the guys called the Cowichan Bears. Good times with family and friends at the family cabin at Cowichan Lake. As a Union Shop Steward at Canada Post. The good times everyone enjoyed while visiting at the family home and on the boat on Shawnigan Lake. The last 10 years of summer camping especially with his 4 grandsons at the Rondolyn Resort at Ladysmith. Rob's career path started when he was 16. He apprenticed as an Oil Burner Mechanic with G.H. Birnie (under his friend Eric Whiteley), was a journeymen at Menzies & Co. and then had his own business called R & M Heating. He also worked at the Victoria Shipyards as a Pipefitter. Then had an electrical business, Totem Installations, with his Brother-in-law Barry Levi. His last stop was working as a mail service courier at Canada Post. Special thanks from Rob and family to Dr. Gaylene M. Hargrove, Nephrologist, and Family Physician, Dr. James D Stockdill. It is still hard to believe Robbie is gone. Always a caring and a very giving man. I will always remember my moving day many years ago into a new house - Robbie just arrives at my doorstep to disconnect my washer/dryer, lift/carry/move them to my new house, then reconnect. All without asking for help! Robbie would just show up - he was a real hero.

Always smiling Robbie

Worked with Robbie for such a long time and am so sorry to the family for your loss. A very sweet hard working man who really made a huge difference in the work place.
