Robert Croll Obituary

CROLL, Robert O. 1926 - 1916 Bob passed away peacefully on November 20, 2016 at age 90, with family by his side. He grew up in Vancouver, graduated from UBC, and taught high school briefly before training as a dentist at the University of Oregon. He practiced dentistry in Vancouver and Kamloops and then completed postgraduate training in orthodontics in both the UK and the USA. He ultimately settled in Victoria where he greatly enjoyed his work. Bob was an expert squash player and competed internationally, winning the Men's 70+ 2001 US and 2002 Canadian championships. He continued to play three times a week into his late 80s. Bob remained active, enjoying working outside with his dog nearby. He also loved a good game of cards and, despite dementia, retained the ability to win at rummy until his final days. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Colleen, in July 2016, and by his young son William many years ago. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Laura (Paul), Leslie, James (Joy), and Robert (Lynn), and his 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Flowers gratefully declined.

I have just heard about the death of Bob Croll. My heart goes out to Laura, Robbie and Leslie. As we say in Judaism. 'May his memory be for a Blesssing.'
Lots of love, Ireta Fisher (Victoria)

I was lucky enough to have worked with Bob on both of his houses on Mt Newton. I remember when the power line was being cleared, and the arbourists missed some branches about 50 feet up a fir tree. Rather than call them back, bob went out and rented some climbing gear and did it himself. He was exhausted when he came down out of the tree. Colleen was not impressed. He was not afraid to try anything on the job site. He will be missed.

Paul and I have such dear memories of Bob when we played squash with him at Keating Fitness. Bob was such an inspiration and we loved his smile. We are so sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the family. Bob was an inspiration and helped me many times with my orthodontic concerns.Unfortunately for me I tried to take him on in squash even though I was many years younger.
Rest in peace with Colleen.
