GILCHRIST, Robert Duncan
August 26, 1946 - May 30, 2024
Robert "Bob" Gilchrist of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the age of 77 years.
Bob was born in Edmonton but spent much of his career as a petroleum geologist in the oil industry in Calgary.
Bob enjoyed time spent at their summer home on Vancouver Island. He loved sailing around the Gulf Islands, and on nice days you could find him driving around in his TR3 or TR6. Finley will sure miss their walks.
Bob is survived by his loving family, his wife Deborah Wheeler-Gilchrist, daughters, Katelin (Phil Mitchell) and Theresa (Niall Oddie), and his grandchildren, Nia and Kaleah Mitchell, and Connor and Meredith Oddie. He is also survived by his brother Alan of Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales, his niece Emma, and nephews. He was a dear friend to many, and we all loved his sense of humour. He was a real "pun" guy!
A Celebration of Bob's Life will be announced at a future date.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Tom Szabo, his family physician, Dr. Sarna, his neurologist, and other doctors, who assisted the family through Bob's fight with Parkinson's and cancer. If you choose to make a donation, please consider these worthy causes, the Parkinson's Association of Alberta and Canadian Cancer Society. And a big thank you to Ashley (RVPHS) for being with them at the end.
Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed with Robert's family at
