Robert McCullagh Obituary

McCULLAGH, Robert (Bob)
The light of our life just went out.
Bob passed away 13 July 2025 at the young age of 68 years. He is survived by Margot, his wife of 43 years, his wonderful daughters Alicia and Tara and his beautiful granddaughters Arzee and Aveha.
Bob worked for Saanich Police for 32 years, six of those in the Forensic Section. Policing was his dream job and he loved it. His favourite position was S/Sgt in charge of a Platoon and he had a great respect for the role of women in policing.
Bob was the king of hobbies. Fishing and hunting were at the top of the list. He was an excellent shooter and reloaded his own ammunition. He smoked salmon, made sausages and wine and ice cream. He shared all he could with friends and neighbours. He was a straight forward man with an abundance of generosity, love, compassion and gentleness.
Bob deeply missed his younger brother Mike who passed two years ago. He was also predeceased by his father Robert McCullagh and mother Patricia McCullagh.

A Celebration for Bob will be held Sunday 31 August at 2:00pm at the Victoria Highland Community Centre located at 1803 Admirals Road.

Margot & Family: We were shocked and profoundly saddened to belatedly come across Bob´s obituary.

Allan remembers going fishing with Bob a long time ago. They were quite far out in the ocean when they became enveloped in fog. Allan was certain they were doomed - or headed towards Japan. He realized later that he should have had more faith - he was in good hands, the best and most competent.

Margaret last saw Bob before she retired, when they came across each other at the Court House. Bob had Margaret in tears - of laughter - at a story he related.

Bob was such a quality person - a really good police officer and an all around fine human being.

Our heartfelt condolences to you a

Dear Margot, Alicia and Tara - our family is so sad that Bob passed away at such a young age. We remember you well from Lamaze classes - and the fun we had doing that pram for Baby Alicia. Andrew still remembers her as a baby learning "So Big". Your lovely family is remembered with great affection.
Our condolences. Ruth and family.

Margot, it has taken me some time to formulate what I want to say. We had such good times together cheering on Alicia and her team mates at the baseball games. You and Bob were always there, with your humour, wit and warmth. Such good memories and meaningful friendships were formed at our ball games, friendships that I will always remember. Sincere and heart felt condolences to you, Alicia and Tara.

Robby and I grew up together as neighbours, we were best buddies, next door to each other on Cowper St. Mikey and my little brother Dave, who passed away, were best buddies, Cathy and I and my brother John were friends and Kerry and my baby sister were friends. I am in disbelief over this and my sincere Condolensces go out to his family. Rest in Peace my childhood best friend Robby.

Bob was a wonderful S/Sgt and always had great stories to share like when his truck and trailer rolled into the ocean or when he returned his boat washing hoses to Canadian Tire because they tiny holes in the first
two and then saw Alicia with a pair of scissors making the hose into a soaker hose. RIP Bob
