Robert Stark Obituary

STARK, Robert W.
July 11, 1931 - July 3, 2024
Victoria BC
A sweet smile, a sweet tooth and a voice made for calling Bingo; this was Robert. Meeting him, you would immediately be endeared by his genuine, twinkly grin and kind disposition. To the people and things he loved, he was passionate, devoted and loyal. He could look at a crib hand and instantly know its value, but would never steal any points that his opponent missed. He was good. Bob filled his life driving buses, doting on his family, basking in the sun and picking up numerous hobbies along the way. He was curious and especially loved to learn about big ships and world history. He had a penchant for old movies and spent many enjoyable hours on his calligraphy projects. Robert spent his later years living at his Sandringham home where he found community, friends and love. We wish to thank all the staff, residents and doctors who cared for him and made his many years at this wonderful place special. We also wish to thank folks at Mount St. Mary for their kind care over the past few months. Predeceased by his wife Shirley; grandson, Logan; brother, Stan; and sister-in-law, Helen. He will be missed deeply by his daughters, Sheri and Julie (Vince), his grandchildren, Grant, Linden, Dylan, Cal and Adam.

This is sad news about Bob. Our paths crossed in the 80's when we both worked in Victoria's bus industry . He would have known my father, myself, and my then girlfriend (now wife).

Bob would think of others. Back in those days at the conclusion of a tour, he'd ask his tour guide to step off for a moment. It was at this time he'd speak to his passengers, and inform that the young ladies who were the guides were all trying to work their way through university. The tips flowed...

That was Bob, he was one of the good guys.

Beautifully written. Uncle Bob was amazing and we have many happy memories of his visits with us, particularly when he came to Scotland to see us. He was a delight. Both of us are so sorry for this loss and send you all our love, smypathy and deepest condolences.

I was fortunate to meet Bob, once as I was a regular passenger on his bus to and from the mainland..enjoyed some great conversations, then to meet again as friend of his daughter Julie and Husband Vince..so,it is a small world, and it will be a bit sadder without Bob in it.
RIP Bob
