Robert Tessier Obituary

TESSIER, Robert Achille 1927 - 2016 We announce the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, Bob Tessier on Friday, November 18, 2016 in Victoria, BC. Dad was born February 17, 1927 in Crichton, Saskatchewan. Dad first came to Victoria when he served his country in the army as an engineer with the Royal Canadian Engineers. He dedicated his working life to the Saskatchewan Power Corporation, working his way from lineman to Director of Operations over a 35 year career. Through hard work and perseverance, he furthered his training at the Banff School of Advanced Management (1966) and became a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Managers (1974). Shortly after retiring from Sask Power, Dad formed his own company where he consulted and subsequently reduced the power factor for large corporations. Dad's zest for life always included family and friends. Although mom and dad were fortunate to have travelled the world, their favourite place was the cabin at Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan. Dad enjoyed fishing, golfing, bridge, cribbage, skiing, dancing and most of all fulfilling his life-long dream of obtaining his pilot's license and flying his own plane at the age of 55. Dad is survived by the love of his life, Shirley. On July 1, 2016 they celebrated 66 years of marriage. Dad is also survived by his children, Terry, Denise (Don), Deborah, D'Arcy, Todd, Danielle (Mark); his grandchildren, Jennifer (Dale), Ashley (Burton), Tiffany, Tera, Jeffrey (Meaghan), Lauren (Darcy), Jessica (Brad), Erin, Michael, Daniel, Nathan, Alexandra and great grandchildren, Aiden, Amelia, Linden, Maddex, Emery, Alexa, Lucas, Natalie, Dexter and Nyxon. Dad was predeceased by his parents, Corinne and Alfred Tessier; siblings, Claire McCallion, Tess Noll, Gerard Tessier and his infant children, Rodney and Dana. He is survived by his brother, Roger Tessier (Rosemary). Dad's optimism and joy for life were among his finest qualities. His legacy will live on in all those who knew and loved him. His family was his greatest accomplishment and he never let us forget it. We would like to thank Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Naaykens, as well as the caring staff at Shannon Oaks and Sunrise Senior Living. We also wish to thank Kathy Dabrus for her many years of love and support. Dad always chose the sunny side of the street and we loved being there with him. Cheers to you Dad! Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 24 - 2 PM at St. Elizabeth's Church in Sidney, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca). Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallgardens.com

Dear Tessier Family,
We were so sad to learn of your Dad's passing. Bob was just a wonderful human being..truly one of a kind. He and Shirley welcomed us and our children into their home..house and cabin, and treated us like one of the family.I'll always think of him every time one of us says " Wakie, Wakie , Eggs and Bacie. "He'll be dearly missed.

To the entire Tessier family:
I have such great memories of our time spent together over the years. I was saddened to hear of Bob passing. I had hoped to attend his service, however, having surgery today. Thinking of all of you.

Shirley and family. I am saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He was a great guy, whom I had great respect for. I remember one time at Waskesiu where he was very patient pulling me or I should say dragging me behind your boat while I tried waterskiing for the first time, with no success. I also very much appreciated his input in my career at SaskPower. He always had a smile, and took time to talk. I always looked forward to seeing you both. He will be missed.

Shirley & famWily,
We were saddened to hear from Todd on the weekend about Bob's passing. I have never known anyone in my travels who had a sunnier disposition. He was a friend to the world and would help anyone when he was asked...he helped me with a university class in marketing, lending his expertise to my project. He made a huge contribution to whatever he undertook and there will be very few who can replace him.
