Robin Fells Obituary
FELLS, Robin
October 31, 1925 - September 7, 2025
We sadly share the news that just 54 days shy of his 100th birthday, Robin passed peacefully in his sleep, a few hours after spending the day with his family. He is survived by his 3 children, Kelly Fells and son in law Carlos Moniz, Don Fells (Catherine) of San Diego and Karen Fells.
In the early 60's, while living in Vancouver, Robin took a trip to Long Beach and when he saw the property that the original Wickaninnish Inn would soon be built on, his heart was captured and he began a build that would be completed within two years. "No newspapers, no radios, and no TV," he proudly advertised, inviting guests to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature. Robin was one of the original surfers on Long Beach and only quit when he broke his ribs at 63. After the Inn, he built homes on Chesterman Beach and Hornby Island. Robin's journey eventually led him to Victoria, where he spent his last 35 years surrounded by friends, his daughters and Carlos. He was an active participant in the community, especially in tennis and bridge. For 25 years when winter came, he would escape to the sunny shores of Cape Town, SA until eventually transitioning into a retirement home in 2019. Despite a failing memory, his sharp wit and dry humour remained intact, while often expressing his gratitude with the heartfelt words: "Thank you, thank you, thank you."
When Robin's time finally came to a close, he left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure. While Robin may have left this world, we know that his spirit dances among the waves of Long Beach, his laughter echoes through the whispers of the ocean breeze, and his gratitude reminds us all to live fully, love deeply, and appreciate the beauty of every moment.
We have much appreciation for the great care Dad received by the staff at Shannon Oaks, The Heights and Dr. Edora.
