Roderick McBride Obituary
McBRIDE, Roderick (Erick) Brent November 17, 1982 October 10, 2007 Erick passed away suddenly at his home in Fanny Bay, B.C. Born at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital, he grew up on the Saanich Peninsula where he attended school, took judo, played soccer, hockey, baseball and rugby. He graduated from Parkland Senior Secondary School in 2000. Erick grew up with a love of all things mechanical and completed apprenticeships in marine diesel with Delta Marine at Westport and heavy duty mechanics with Lemaire Lake Logging (Port Hardy), before moving on to work at the diamond mines at Diavik N.W.T. He recently set up his home base in Fanny Bay B.C. Erick will be sadly missed by family members Roderick (Rick), Wendy, Christina, and Alan McBride, and his extended family of Andrew, Michele, Frances & Matthew McBride; and Ron, Lynn, Brent, Jane, Matthew, Marion, Diana, Holly, Robbie, Sandy, Ryan and Cassidy Foxall. Erick is predeceased by grandparents Roderick (Rod) & Josephine (Jo) McBride. We would like to thank all those who have supported us through these stressful times. A celebration of Erick's life will be held at Parkland School on MacDonald Park Road in North Saanich, October 27, 2007 at 1 pm. I taught Erick at Parkland in 1998, 1999 and 2000. He was one of the first students I shared a laugh with when I started teaching there. I'm so sad to hear of his passing. He will be missed.

My condolences to the whole McBride Family.
I knew Erick when I looked after him when he was 4 & 5 years old. I loved seeing his smile, and hearing his wild imagation stories he loved to tell.
He will be so dearly missed.

My condolences go out to all family and friends of Eric McBride. I had the pleasure of meeting, working and skateboarding with Eric beginning in 2001. after a few years he moved up Island (where I grew up) for work. People and friends I had grown up with, now had the chance to experience the amazing power of his presence. They all send their love, memories and condolences with me when I head to Sidney this Saturday to share in the celebration of his life. Till we meet again.

I had just met Erick through his good friend Corey about 2 months ago(Aug. '07) and he seemed like a really great guy, I didn't know him nearly as well as most other people signing this guestbook but I wish that I had got to because we definitely had alot in common. Even though we only just met and didn't know eachother that well, I'll always remember the good times we all had together at the norwood barndance. We'll miss ya.

Eric was a very confident, intelligent, funny, and unique friend, the world will not be the same in his absence. He changed and touched many of our lives, those of us that had the plessure of knowing eric, send are thoughts and prayers too his family, and friends with our deepest regards for this loss. Eric touched alot of peoples lives with his easy smile and quick wit. People like Eric do not come along everyday and when we lose them senselessly it makes us realize we should cherish every moment that we have with special people we meet in our lives.
