Ron TIDMAN Obituary
Ron was a wonderful husband and partner for 63 years. We met when we were 15 & 17 and married at 16 &19; and had 3 beautiful daughters, 4 granddaughters and 1 grandson along with 2 great grandsons. He had 4 sisters and 1 brother plus many nieces nephews, and cousins, here and on the east coast.
Ron had many longtime friendships, some over 70 years. He mentored young people and helped some to realize second chances. He was always available to give support when needed some financial, some advice or even just a hug.
Ron had many adventures including motor cycle trips, cruising, boating but his favourite were with his family. He also had some bumps along the way but Ron was never a glass half empty kind of guy, he just kept going forward.
He was very successful and well respected in his building and developing career which spanned over 66 years. He served his apprenticeship with his dad, and going into business with his brother John, allowed them to take on some bigger projects. He loved this because it allowed him to work with his daughters. Shelley Mann was his go to realtor, Kimberly Williams his designer and Denise Tidman ran the two senior living homes that they built.
Ron also gave of his time to the Norgaard Foundation, Central Saanich Lions and many coaching jobs along the way. We have been members of Capital City Yacht club for 50 years. Our last "Hey Jude" sold the day before he passed.
Ron promised me our life would not be boring, and it certainly wasn't. I wouldn't change a thing.
The list of people he left to mourn him is very long, the short list is me, his wife Judy, our daughters, Shelley (Randy Ellis), Kimberly (Wayne Farey), Denise (Steven Hayden). Grandchildren Melanie and Tyson Mann, Desiree (Ben Webb), Jasmine (Christos Macris) and Sydney Robertson. His two wonderful great grandsons Oliver and Finnegan Webb. Sisters Patsy Parker, Janet (Duncan Ross), Nancy Philpott, Elizabeth (Michael Stubbs) and brother John (Eileen) Tidman. A very special shout out to the Cronies Wed. lunch group that he thoroughly enjoyed. Also Saanich Peninsula Hospital doctors and nurses that took such great care of Ron and the whole family.
There will be a Celebration Of Life on May 29, 2024 at 1:00-3:00 at Mary Winspear Center in Sidney, BC

Ron gave me the opportunity to leave my government job and move forward in my career in private sector. Without his mentorship I would not now be the owner operator and developer of a small seniors community in Chemainus. He was good man and lived a great life!

Dear Judy, Kimberly, Shelley, Denise and the entire Tidman Family.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss of Ron. I have a wonderful memory of Ron´s very quick action saving me from a short and very cold swim as I started to tumble between our rubber dinghy and the wharf at Port of Sidney. With one swift lifting motion He reached out and `landed´ me high, dry and safe on the wharf as Stuart watched in amazement from the back of the dinghy.
Just one of our many good memories of Ron `coming to the rescue.´

Saddened to hear the news of Mr Tidman shuffling off.
Ron was an absolute beauty.I really had an attachment to him.
He took time out of his life to spend time with me,asking questions,offering valuable opinions when needed but most of all,telling me "it´s ok Stevie,you´ll get there.
I feel like I have lost a real ally.
To Mrs Tidman ,thank you for sharing him with me,I could tell you till I was blue in the face how much he meant to me,but I feel it would fall short.
I´ll see ya on the other side Ron,you´ll hear me coming old friend and we will share a beer and a laugh.
