Ronald Hatch Obituary

HATCH, Ronald Ward
October 21, 1946 - August 18, 2024
With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Ronald Ward Hatch, peacefully at home at age 77. He was predeceased by his wife Lorna Hatch (nee Nelson) in 2007. He will be dearly missed and is survived by his partner Lorna Wells, children Beverly, Julie and Ronald (Sue Bai) and grandchildren Brendan and Cooper.

Ron was born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, the youngest of three brothers (William and Robert). As a teenager, he moved with his parents (Wilfred and Nellie) to the Victoria area. Ron lived on "the rock" the rest of his life and only rarely (and begrudgingly) left it. He was a proud member of the Victoria Fish & Game Association and enjoyed working on perfecting his golf swing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

I just stumbled upon Ron's obit. It quite saddens me. For quite a while Ron and I would meet for coffee. He was a soft spoken guy, but had some strong opinions, which I liked. As mentioned, he was very generous with his financial advice. I'll miss him. Lorna: I hope you are doing OK.

I have been corresponding with Ron since 2000. We are both the same age and we have traded strategies, both personal and investment during that time. I was shocked to learn of his passing in the Timing the Market forum. I had moved on to a different style of investing, but still kept in touch. Rest in peace dear friend.

I did not personally meet Ron, but I have communicated with him on a financial website for over 10 years. Ron was generous and would answer any question that was asked of him. He was very skilled at financial charts and was appreciated by many on an on-line financial community. My sincere condolences to his family.

Ron was a frequent contributor to our financial website and he was a favourite commentator among our audience. While we did not know him personally, his selflessness and passion towards the financial markets was readily apparent as he helped many with his valuable insight. We are grateful for his dedication. In this increasingly virtual world, his presence made a substantial impact on all that followed his teachings. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Ron, but followed his posts on Stockhouse with interest. I always learned something from his contributions and will miss him in that way. God bless, Ron and condolences to the family.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Ron in person. We interacted on a finance blog and we all enjoyed his opinions on the market and life in general. I frequently thought how great it would be to have a mentor like Ron/BC as he was known. Condolences to the family.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Ron´s passing. Ron & I became friends, online first, via a financial blog we frequented and then in person 4 years ago when my wife & I moved to Victoria. Ron & I shared an interest in investing strategies & in golf. Words can´t express my sorrow for you Lorna & for Ron´s family. Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss and RIP Ron, we´ll catch up later.

I was a small child when I met Ron. We were neighbours and my Mother was good friends with his wife Lorna Hatch. I became fast friends with his kids and have had a long friendship with his daughter Bev. I remember him fondly and I looked up to his intelligence and strong opinions and how he always spoke his mind. Also his beautiful smile and grin stays in my mind. He will be missed. Sending heartfelt condolences to all his Family and friends. I send lots of love out to his 3 children Bev, Julie and Ron. I know how hard this is. Much love to you.
