Ronald Moss Obituary

MOSS, Ronald Douglas
July 16, 1931 - March 12, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald "Ron" Moss. Ron passed away peacefully March 12th, 2024, at 92 years of age.
Ron was born in 1931 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. His career began in the laundry room of St. Joseph's hospital in 1949. In 1982, he assisted in the building of what is now Victoria General Hospital. He retired in 1986, after 37 years, with the title of Chief Engineer.
In 1953, Ron met Doris and the two were married in the summer of 1954. Their daughter, Evelyn was born in 1956, and their son, Cliff in 1958.
Ron lived a very active life. Every weekday morning, he swam at Esquimalt Recreation Centre. This continued for over 36 years; such that he swam a cumulative length of more than halfway across the Atlantic Ocean. When his shoulders no longer allowed him to swim (at age 78), he began a pool exercise routine to maintain his health and mobility. During the summer months, Ron enjoyed spending time at his waterfront property, Otter Point.
Ron was known for his passion and skill as a woodworker. He crafted a variety of items - from jewellery boxes and Christmas ornaments to goblets and salt & pepper mills - which are highly cherished by family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife of 70 years, Doris, their son, Cliff, son-in-law, Bob, granddaughters, Holly (Nate) & Meghan (Kyle), great-grandsons, Henry & Hudson, and his brother, Jerry.
Ron was preceded by his daughter, Evelyn, and five siblings, Frank, Shirley, Margaret, Gladys, & Lloyd.
Ron's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their support and care during this difficult time. A special thank you to Dr. Chloé Lemire-Elmore for her empathy and compassion.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 13th, 2024, at First Memorial (4725 Falaise Dr., Victoria, BC) at 2pm.
