Ronald Provan Obituary

PROVAN, Ronald Sydney
February 27, 1938 - November 23, 2024
After a long and amazing life, Ron has rejoined the love of his life, Gail. He passed very peacefully in his sleep on November 23, 2024 with family by his side.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Teddy, Alec, Marian, Ted, Mary and his brother, David.
Left behind are daughters, Kimberley (Dale) and Deanna (John), sisters Lynda, Susan, Jacquie, cousin Barb and countless more. Without a doubt his pride and joy were his 2 beautiful granddaughters, Halle and Taylor. They brought so much love and happiness to Gail and Ron's lives. He was also affectionately known as "Poppa Ron" to many others.
Ron worked proudly as an Optician for over 40 years. Ron's family all spent many years enjoying "Their Trailer" until they found cruising. Known as a character, Ron kept us laughing up to the very end.
Thank you to all the people that provided him care, love and compassion.

At Ron's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity that brings you happiness.

I was very sorry to hear that Ron had passed away. I have known him since 1963 when I worked as a receptionist for Imperial Optical on Fort Street. He was always a very up-beat kind of person that brought humour into your life. He and Gail were so very proud of their daughters and grandaughters. Ron will be very much missed by his family and friends. It will be a difficult time for your family.

Dear Kim and Deanna - we are old friends of your parents from back in Victoria when we were all newlyweds. in the early 1970's. I worked with your Mom Gail at the Industrial Development Bank in those days and I remember when she was expecting Kim. We had good times with them back then and will always remember them both fondly. We moved away to the Mainland and lost touch over the years; when I was way younger, Ron made my glasses at Imperial Optical. Our condolences to you girls and your families.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to Ron's family. Ron and his wife Gail were good friends in the early 1970's. We, unfortunately, lost touch with each other when we left Vancouver Island. Ron was a person of good humour, and I remember going fishing with him, and he told many a good joke. We only met his daughters once or twice when they were infants, but
We saw photos of them in later years. He was very proud of them. Ron, you will be missed here, but have now reunited with Gail. You both will live on in our memories, my frien.

Worked with Ron at Imperial Optical when I first arrived in Victoria in 1974.
Along with being a great guy with a good sense of humor he also had a skilll nobody else on the Island had.
Long before Cataract Implants were a thing, Ron actually manufactured cataract lenses (aphakic spectacles). That was by no means a simple task, it was very specialized and only done by Ron. I remember thinking at the time, what would happen with those hundreds of people who depended on Ron's skill for vision if he called in sick.
So my memories of Ron are many and I'm very grateful he was part of my journey... Condolences to the Family
