Sandra MOORE Obituary

Sandra Rose Moore, 78, of Victoria, BC, passed away peacefully at the Kiwanis Pavilion on February 15, 2026. A gentle-hearted soul, she was born in Victoria to George and Mary Miners and attended Sir James Douglas elementary school and St. Ann's Academy. It was at St. Ann's that she met her life-long friend Irene. Sandra and Irene were inseparable and shared many adventures and misadventures together! After graduation she received training at Sprott-Shaw and performed secretarial work for several Victoria businesses. In 1971, she married Gerry Moore who had been introduced to her by her brother Melvin at a ten-pin bowling club. She spent over ten years at Saanich Municipality in the Mayor's office as the Administrator's Secretary and ten years as the head Receptionist at St. Michael's University School. During this time, she and Gerry bought a Cessna 172 aeroplane and spent many years flying as far North as the Arctic Circle and as far South as New Orleans. After selling the aeroplane, Sandra enjoyed camping with Gerry for several years in a small trailer. Sandra is survived by her husband Gerry and brother Melvin (Marion) of Calgary. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private graveside ceremony at Hatley Memorial Gardens at a future date. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Kiwanis Pavilion for their loving care of Sandra during the last five years of her life. Please consider donating in memory of Sandra to the Kiwanis Pavilion, 3034 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC, V8T 3J3.

Dear Gerry and Family,
Bob and I are saddened by the passing of your dear Sandra.
When Bob and I were at SMUS, a treat for us was being greeted by Sandra at reception - she made us feel very special and always asked about members of our family - by name!
A wonderful and warm face of our school!!
We are thinking of you, Gerry and your family as you absorb this loss.
Our deepest condolences,
Joan and Bob Snowden

So sad to read Sandra´s obituary. I had the pleasure of being one of Sandra´s classmates/friends at St. Ann´s Academy. I can still hear her voice, her giggles, her laughter, her joy - especially with our friend, Irene J. So unfair her golden years were not as bright as she deserved. My condolences to you, Jerry, who so lovingly cared for her and to all those she loved. Go gently, sweet soul, out of the darkness and into the Light - rest well, my friend - you made a difference!
