Scott Bryant Obituary

Scott Bryant, beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away on July 6 at the Victoria Hospice, 6 weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Scott was born on Dec. 3, 1975, in Victoria, B.C., the third son of Bill and Marion Bryant. He grew up in Victoria and spent many years playing ball and building long and lasting friendships. Scott was the co-owner of Crest Fire Extinguishers and was a dedicated employee and employer. In 2001 Scott met Dana, the love of his life. They married in 2005 and had three sons: Carter (2007), Trenton (2009), and Hudson (2012).

Scott's life reflected his personality: giving, patient, humorous, fun-loving, hard-working, mildly sarcastic, caring, and selfless. He was a fabulous friend and a devoted husband and father. Dana and their boys were the centre of his life, and he always focused on their happiness and well being.

Scott is survived by his wife, Dana, and their sons Carter, Trenton, and Hudson; his father, Bill; his brother Todd (Jeanette); his brother Terry; father- and mother-in-law George and Jacqueline Beninger; sisters-in-law Bree (Brian) and April (Chris); brother-in-law Mike (Treava); and nieces and nephews William, Abby, Emily, Kaitlyn, Pelham, Alma, and Bridget; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Scott was predeceased by his mother, Marion, in 2014.

Special thanks to Dr. Keith McQueen for his continued care and attention, and to the caring staff and volunteers at Victoria Hospice.

A celebration of Scott's life will be held at North Douglas Pentecostal Church, 675 Jolly Place, on July 16 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Victoria Hospice are gratefully accepted.

Heartbreaking ... I met Scott working with his brother Terry while he was in high school and have ran into him often at Crest. He was such a great guy always smiling and great to talk with him like we have seen each other every day for the past 25 years. I wish I had heard earlier to attend the service :( .I am so sorry for your loss.

The Bryant's were our next door neighbours as I grew up and Scott was a fantastic friend to my sister and I.

He was always full of laughter and so many of my best early memories have Scott at the heart of them. He was very much a "Bryant" to us. In our family that name means friendship, kindness, honesty, hard working, fun loving, and simply the type of people you find so rarely through life. What a simply great person and family!

I was so pleased to hear what a wonderful father, husband and friend he was, and it was in keeping with his personality even as a very young boy.

Our hearts go out to Dana and the boys and to all the extended Bryant family. Scott will be very missed and remembered so fondly by all the Buckhams of Dunbar.

To the Bryant Family,

Words cannot express how much we will miss Scott. We met through business, but, quickly turned to friendship. He had a heart of gold and was a genuine kind spirit. Keep strong in the fact that he now watches over you from above. He will be forever missed. Our prayers and thoughts are with you in this difficult time.

Dana, Bill, Todd, Terry, Jeanette & all the kids,

My heart ached for all of you when I heard about Scott. It was been such a hard 2 years for your family.

I will always remember the banter at the family dinners, Scott and the brothers in the centre of it all. He had such a great sense of humour and lit up any room he was in. Generous, happy & devoted family man, he will truly be missed. Dana, I always admired how much Scott absolutely adored you. Although no words can ease your loss, I hope your memories of Scott will eventually bring you peace. Please know you are all in my thoughts.

Although my relationship with Scott started as a business one, I soon came to think of him as a friend, always positive, friendly and willing to help out. I think (hope) he thought the same of me. He was one of the good guys. I will surely miss him.

I did not know his wife and children but as a husband and father of three boys myself, my heart breaks for their tragic loss. My thoughts are with them.

Oh Scotty. Rob and I are both so saddened by this. You were always like Scott Lewis' little brother from Victoria back in the late 90's when we were all young and single. I remember when we had bought our house in Nanaimo, you helped us move in. Then when we had our house warming party you showed us your awesome stair surfing skills and played hide and seek with empty beer bottles. That was 15 years ago and to this day Rob finds the odd one in our hedge and remarks with a grin "I wonder who put that there". We also found some in our gutters :). I'm so grateful to have run into you this past October while you were visiting Lew. Your warm hug and kind smile was always constant and I'm just gutted that we won't have you around anymore. Hugs and prayers to your beautiful family. Your presence on this earth was felt immensely and will be missed. Jen and Rob Hoffman

Uncle Bill,

I am so sorry to hear about Scott. Words cannot express.

I had thought of him just the other day when I was registering my own 3 for summer swim lessons. I was reminded of my big cousin "Scotty" and how he went swimming with Amber and I at Sunnyside pool in Surrey and we thought he was just so crazy for doing bellyflops into the pool! We had so much fun.
Our prayers are with you all...

Scotty as we called him. He was an honest hard working guy. We had great times from grade 8 -12. I remember all the country music he made me listen too when we were in high school, he loved that stuff;)
His family always welcomed us boys with open arms into their home. Dana you got to know Scotty as an amazing husband and dad. We were very lucky to know him as a great friend. Even though we are all busy with daily life and family, whenever we saw each other it was like we picked up from where we left off.

Going to miss ya... Your brotha from another mother :)

I remember Scott as a friendly guy who was well-liked and respected across many social circles. I hadn't seen him since high school, but was happy for him to have built a family and have been a local business owner that specialized in helping people remain safe and save lives.

He left us too soon. May his spirit and presence remain with those who are close to him forever.

Rest in peace, Scott.

It is with such a heavy heart that I write about Scotts passing.
I had the privilege of meeting him when he was so little as he often accompanied his Mom and Dad to his brother Terry's parent teacher conferences. Later I was so pleased that he was in my Kindergarten class and will always remember him as a very caring and spontaneous individual. He was so special to me as he got older as he always took the time of day to smile and say Hi. Through this growing years I got to see this beautiful little boy grow and develop into such a kind and considerate young man, especially at the celebrations I attended on Many a Christmas Eve.
I only wish I had known his wonderful wife and children, but cannot think that he would not be a great father, taking after his own dad, Bill's example. It is hard to believe that he has moved on, and my only consolation is that he will be with his adoring Mother Marion.
Rest in peace Scott. You were truly loved by all.

Scotty was an incredibly thoughtful, devoted and fun-loving individual taken from his family and friends far too soon. Those that were lucky to have known him likely shared many laughs, maybe tipped a few, and have been left with life long, wonderful memories. He will be sadly missed, and never forgotten.....RIP my friend.
