Sheila Robson Obituary

ROBSON, Sheila Margaret
October 20, 1921 - November 29, 2022
Our lovely Mum has died at the rather remarkable age of 101. She was an uncommonly kind and thoughtful person who had endless patience with children and cared deeply for the wellbeing of all animals.
Predeceased by her parents Robert and Doris Williamson (nee Popplewell) and her husband Peter Elliott Robson. She is survived by her four children, Chris (Charlotte), Claire (Paul), Ann and Mark as well as three grandchildren, Jeremy, Shaun and Erin and five great-grandchildren.
Born in London, England her dream of designing costumes for the theatre had to be put aside after just one year of art school with the coming of the war. She then began her nurses training at Queen Mary's Hospital where fate led her to meeting our father.
The year 1944 was her year horribilis. Her beloved mother died and our father was wounded and taken prisoner during Operation Market Garden.
After the war, like many others, our father needed to start anew and that eventually led them to immigrating to Canada. She was ever so grateful to their life here and proudly became a Canadian citizen but a piece of her heart always remained in England.

She requested no service or flowers. but if you could spare an extra treat for your cat or dog or some seed or bread for the birds, she would be pleased.

My condolences to the Robson family. I met Mrs . Robson early in my career. I felt very privileged that she allowed me to help her take care of her cats. She always had a wry smile and a story about Simon
