Sieglinde Kutzner Obituary

KUTZNER, Sieglinde (nee Grontzki) Passed away peacefully with family at her side, on June 20, 2015. Sieglinde was born August 9, 1939 in Gutfeld Germany, and was the youngest of 12 children. She immigrated to Victoria in 1960 and married her favorite dance partner Walter, of 49 years. Sieglinde (Ziggy) was a long time member of the German Edelweiss Club and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she volunteered for many events in the community. She had fun singing in the church choir for many years. Ziggy was a wonderful supportive friend, and enjoyed sharing her dry wit with others. She loved tending to her garden and preserving its harvest. Ziggy was fond of spending time with her Quadra Street friends and the special neighborhood they created. Mom loved entertaining and baking up a storm every Christmas. She loved travelling the world with Dad and would celebrate our family holidays by crafting and crocheting keepsakes. Sieglinde was a devoted wife, mother, Oma and Omi. She is predeceased by her loving, husband Walter (2009). Celebrating her life and remembering her with great love are children Barbara (David), Christine (David), Robert (Christa), and their children, Sarah, Emily, Matthew, Nicole, Mariah and Sheldon, and her many relatives in Berlin. The family is grateful for the care that Mom received while at Royal Jubilee Hospital and especially to Victoria Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2815 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC, on July 18th at 1:00pm and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sieglinde's memory may be made to C-FAX Santa's Anonymous Society, or BC Children's Hospital Foundation, organizations dear to Mom's heart. Now with Dad, your loving husband, we who remain are "always together in love" with you both.

Christine, our prayers are with you and all of your family including Dave, Nicole and Mathew. I am sure your mom is already busy tending to the flowers your dad had planted ahead of time, while he awaited her arrival. Your mom's happy smile and wonderfully incisive quips will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was a great lady.
Our deepest sympathy, The Wolfe's - Kelly, Greg, Emily and Alex.

I met your Mum 25 years ago in RJH...she was in the bed next to me, and we remained friends following...travelling to wool shops, sorting through patterns to knit for our children, then grandchildren!
So terribly sorry to hear of her passing...my sincere condolences.

Thinking of you all at this very difficult time. I will treasure the times that Mum and I spent with your parents. Sieglinde loved to entertain and she did it well! We spent many hours making heirloom crafts. She was so proud of her family and all your accomplishments. I am sorry that she suffered for the last couple of years, she didn't deserve that.
Please accept our deepest sympathy.
The Quin family, Brenda, Tanya and Jeremy

Barb, I just read with sadness the passing of your mother. I remember with fondness (in the mid 1970's), walking through the beautiful gardens that your parents created at your home on Quadra Street.
My thoughts are with you at this time.
