Stan Kellow Obituary

KELLOW, Stanley Keith
October 29, 1933 - November 12, 2025

"Stanley Steamer" or known in the restaurant industry "Stan the Breadman" passed with his son at his side. Predeceased by the love of his life, Margery. Their relationship was one of a kind, admired by many.
He leaves his son Wayne (Sheryl) grandson Daine (Marissa), great-granddaughter Dahlia, granddaughter Justine; daughter Sherri (Mike), grandsons; Taylor (Kiana), Landyn and Spencer. He was never boastful but enormously proud of his family, showing them in his own way with immense humour and sassiness.
At 15 he went to work for the CPR, then began a long career at McGavins/MacDonalds Bread, and instructed at the YMCA. At 55 he retired and joined McCall's Funeral Home part time, social as ever.
Our Dad could light up a room with his quick wit, smile, and happy demeanor. The Kellow name was synonymous with "we know Marge/Stan". They had something special and people were drawn to them, as they were always generous to a fault, putting others first.
Our parents were involved in every aspect of Oak Bay Bands, Victoria Minor Hockey, and Lacrosse. They always ensured every child had the right to play, often supplying equipment or providing a ride. They were active members at St. Mary's Anglican Church.
They loved gardening, golfing, and boating. Friends, young and old, would often find themselves welcomed to impromptu happy hours or dinners, often leading to shenanigans.
Stan believed in a handkerchief, handshake, opening a door, ladies first, and working hard. These are values our family holds close.
He never let anyone know how difficult life had become and always appreciated others' kindness. He could make a perfect stranger feel at ease.
Love you Dad and forever missed.
A huge thank you to the staff at the Priory, forever grateful.
Celebration TBA. No flowers please, donations in his memory to Canuck Autism Network.

So sorry for your loss. Your Mum and Dad were amazing people, know they are together again. I met them in the 80´s. They both were so thoughtful and supportive of my family, business and myself. How lucky you were to have had them as your parents! And I believe in my recipe box I have your mum´s recipe for her cherry loaf!

Our family remembers your dad Stan, from back in the day at the old barn on Blanshard Street, coaching Minor Hockey. Our late father, Mal, thought the world of Stan. When I saw his name this morning, it brought a flood of good memories back. Our thoughts go out to the Kellow clan. Connors Family.
