Stephen Bowker Obituary

BOWKER, Stephen Karl April 24, 1951 - July 29, 2020 Passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, son, "Baba", brother and uncle. Steve is survived by his loving wife Gail, son Rick (Lillian and three gorgeous granddaughters), mother (Win Bowker) and sisters Carol and Kim. Also left to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews and their children, and equally numerous in-laws and friends. He loved travel, dancing in the kitchen with the girls, and a really good discussion on just about anything. He was smart, funny, kind and a great raconteur - travel stories a specialty. Steve was an original, and lived his life his way. He inspired others to live the life you want, and figure out the logistics later. Think of him whenever you see a really beautiful Hawaiian shirt. Safe travels, my love. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Canadian Cancer Society.

Hello Gail
I was shocked to find that Steve was gone for 4 years already.
We met winter 74-75 in Mexico. Steve gave me a ride to Palenque and offered me some local treat...
He visited switzerland in 77 on his way to the orient and said he'll remember "the sound of the hockey sticks on the cobblestone of the old town". We travelled together from calgary to vancouver in june 79.
I had the privilege to meet you with Steve in Winterthur in 93.
I'm not sure if I had time or opportunity to thank you for the bibs of my twin boys. they are grown now
I'keep him in my memory treasure.

Dear Gail, I am so sad to find out about Steve. It has been a while since I last saw both of you. My sister, June, also passed away in September from Cancer. My thoughts are with you always. Your old roller skating bud, Jack Seto.

We have had the pleasure of being a friend and neighbour of the Bowkers for over 30 years. What wonderful adventures they have had! He and Gail have shared a deep love, soul mates, they have shared so much. We will miss his smile, his intelligence, his contributions to our Oak Bay/Harling Point community and most of all, his joie de vive! Farewell Steve, raconteur and lover of life.

We have fond memories working with Steve over the years, he was always acommodating, professional, and accurate. Steve's travel stories with his family were entertaining and informative. And his shirts were great.
We'll have a tropical toast to Steve
